  • Perfect jobs

We have a lot of different jobs here - book store, grocery store, hotel, travel and so forth.

What would your perfect job and place be?

I occasionally have fantasies about winning a sweet jebus sized lottery and buying a place like the Goldfield Hotel and renovating it back into a functioning hotel, and with the 2 main haunting rooms [the basement hell hole room and the one where the woman was chained to the radiator] specifically rented to people wanting to do ghosty stuff. With the top floor turned into employee housing, and on the ground floor one side turned into a really nice restaurant/coffee house and the other side having a few old style slot machines [one armed bandits that take coins not cards] and one each low bet poker, roulette, craps and 21 tables. Not a full on casino, but just a little light gambling. And we would specifically NOT give in to sucky customers! I figure that there would be a fair trickle of people looking to get scared, and locals looking for lunch and dinner to make it a nice hobby business if there was the money in the bank to make sure it wasn't needed to be a huge money making proposition [sort of like gentleman farming, just hoteling ]

I've always sort of dreamed of owning a bakery...actually more like a cookie-specific bakery. I LOVE baking cookies and everyone who's ever had my cookies says they're the best they've ever eaten. Usually when I bake a batch, I'll send some to work with my husband and his co-workers all go crazy over them. However, I also know that it would be a ton of work...and involve getting up at like 4am to start baking...so I dunno how long I'd actually like it.

I'm pretty happy with what I do now, which is making jewelry from home. I just wish I was better about marketing it (I love making it, hate actually selling it.)

Easy. I'd be paid to eat.

I'd spend my off-time fixing the Trimaran and watching One Piece.

But mostly I'd be paid to eat.

Im with Maggie. If I could so ANYTHING I wanted, id own a bakery and bake all day long. I know the business aspect of it would suck, but thats what my husband is for. Lol.

If i had to stay in my field NOW, Id be a cruise ship nurse. Traveling everywhere and doing what I enjoy? Sign me up PLEASE!

In crazy fantasy land, Id be paid tons of money to stay home and watch anime.

Oddly enough I think I have it.

I enjoy doing office work, design work, etc. but I love being outside, working hard, getting dirty.

Right now I get the inside work/design work at my day job (even though I hate this place I like my job for the most part) and the outside stuff is my part time job as a lumber jockey.

Be nice if I could combine the two, or get a design job that allowed me to be outside sometimes.

I'd love to use my theatre degree. Nothing fancy, i love just to have a little theatre where I could build and design sets.

I want to buy one of those old 50s motels, with the separate little bungalos, and convert them to artist's studios for rent. Have big openings once a month, etc.

I'd have the biggest one, of course.

My absolute dream job would be to own a bed-and-breakfast, which I'm 100% thinking about. I don't think I would like to have a full-blown hotel, just something nice that people can be comfortable.

I'd go for running a boarding house. Which might be feasible given that we're (hopefully) going to be tied to universities for a long time. I can cook and take care of the house and get paid for it. Not that I like housework, I just like taking care of people, and I like the satisfaction of a job well done. *looks around disaster of a living room*. That and having incentive to get it all done.

My dream job would be pillow and bed tester

As for reality, I suppose the work I'm doing now is good enough (ofifice moving, facilities management). To make it my dream job, I'd like to have the desk job of one of my dumbass clients in a large company. The difference being that I'd get the email and then do the work. This is something that would save the company thousands. They'd have a compentent, capable person immediately available; would pay me at a much lower rate than my company charges; and would eliminate the need for the person that does nothing but receives emails and calls my company. Obviously, my existing clients wouldn't go for this so I can't suggest it to them, and emails and faxes to HR departments have gotten me no response.

If I ever win the lottery, I am going back to school and getting my History degree, focusing on england, northern Europe. Then I would become a researcher for some professor. I would to be in a library looking up stuff for some professor.

Or paid to read, that would be nice too.

and the one within reach is getting my jewerly business off the ground. I want to do more anciet looking jewerly with an eye towards steampunk.

                          Full-time novelist! It'll happen someday.

But if it doesn't...I want to be assistant giraffe keeper at the zoo. Not head giraffe keeper. That's too much pressure. Assistant giraffe keeper is fine.

After winning the lottery so I could buy any computer gear I want/need, I'd go for a job in computer forensics (either public or private sector). That or a keeper/socializer/educator job at one of the two wolf education centers I've been to.

                            Steampunk jewelry? Can I help?

I want to work in a bookstore. A used bookstore, or an independent one, with cats, there have to be bookstore cats.

Or editing novels, I think I could be good at that.
