89F outside right now. Pretty typical for this time of year. Been in t-shirt and shorts mode for several months.

But not this time. Yes, all of the above is true, but casting a shadow over all of that is the fact that yesterday the Governor of Florida declared a state of emergency for this and several other counties due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and its potential effect, both ecologically and economically.
We've been under a state of emergency since the get-go. That first weekend after the oil spill, everyone was at the beaches, taking pictures and saying good-bye. It was actually really sad...Now, we are still playing the waiting game. When I go to work, I look out and see the orange oil booms and wonder if it'll help at all...

But, anyway...snow. It's 96 degrees outside right now, according to weather.com. Feels that way, too, but luckily the humidity is low so it's really not too bad. Bah to snow!

I'm just about halfway between where Gravekeeper is and where GK's pink camo-wearing pants-hunting catalogue customers are calling from.
If that "halfway" includes East-West, then I believe that I'm obligated to point out that it's only May. Why are you complaining about snow?

"Come to Canada... If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes..."
I heard two international students. One was explaining to the other that "in Canada, you have to check the weather every day". I was quite shocked by the idea that the weather changing 10-15 degrees from one week to the next like it does here would be such a shocker.
