For awhile I thought it started with Alladin (the Genie? SOOOOOO not for the kids!) but going back to watch other movies I loved as a kid now, it was always there. The writers know that kids don't usually watch movies alone, especially not in theaters. Parents are with them. Therefore, they try to make the movies enjoyable for the parents as well and do so by putting in things the kids won't get or will find funny but not for the same reason adults do.

    I love love love it!
I am Wolverine.............and Wolverine does not do high kicks.

He was a hero to me....and heroes are not supposed to die.

No matter how tempting it is, I have to wait until it comes out on video. Some movies are just not worth going to theaters for, if you're going to pay upwards of $20 or more for tickets and treats, then to listen to a bunch of kids screaming and laughing and talking for the whole thing.

Any type of "family" movie, I won't see in theaters.

I only go to "family" movies when kids are in school and as it is summer there is no "safe" time to go.

I know there are grownups who can't understand that kids' movies can be entertaining, whether it's for the innocent humour or the action with minimal violence or the sweet snuggly stuff. Those grownups are boring people who probably got shamed out of watching cartoons when they were teenagers and have never recovered.

I love Toy Story. And you should also go back and watch some old Sesame Street and Electric Company shows -- those were designed not only to teach kids, but also so that grownups would get a kick out of them and watch with their kids. There is so much I didn't get when I was four.

If you have it showing in 3D, you might want to try that. The 3D movies cost extra ($3.50 here), so parents don't seem to be as willing to cough up the extra $$ for their tickets, and junior's ticket too. 2 people, and it's almost another admission. We say TS & TS2 when they came out as a double feature in 3D recently, just saw TS3 in 3D this weekend - no kids in the theater.

Yeah, when I went to see TS3, I picked a later showing and there were about sixty other people in with me--no children. Lots of older people are going to this. Hell, the entire row in front of me was filled with Marines. And yes, I caught a few time them sniffling at the end too.

It was such a good movie.

Yeah; as I said, when I went to see both Toy Story movies when they came out, there were no kids; just adults and teens. So I'm happy enough to take the risk of kiddies; the Odeon cinema I usually go to is very good about tossing out the troublemakers. XD

When bf and I went to see the A Team two weekends ago, the theater was filled with kids.

Last Friday, there were hordes of kids and their parents to see it as well. I worried for a second they were all going to Twilight, until I saw that they were all getting the 3D glasses and Twilight isn't in 3D.

Of course, someone at Twilight brought a baby and it screamed a few times.

My only luxury in the world, going to the movies.....and someone always seems to ruin it.

Sensible baby; if someone brought me to a Twilight movie, I'd be screaming too.

Most "kid's movies" aren't for just for kids.

That's what direct to video/DVD (showing my age here) is for.

And, as has been previously mentioned, look at Looney Toons cartoons. Pepe Le Pew anyone? Cross-dressing Bugs Bunny?
