  • BMI on the Wii Fit reckons 35, but Wii Fit age 29. Considering my knee is really letting me know it's there right now, I reckon the apparent age is a good thing. Going to try and remember to hula the hoop tonight.

Still doing crunches and a little work with the weights, but it's not cardio :/

    • Raps - would you not be able to try some sort of aqua cardio? Takes stress off the joints etc...

      • I just found an article that might apply to me.

All my diagnoses of osteoarthritis have been due to symptoms. I've never had an MRI, and it's always just been assumed, because early-onset runs in my family.

Then I read this from the Daily Mail. The description of the symptoms is *exactly* what I've always had...with moments of remission, and it's always triggered by some sort of trauma.

Seriously, if the solution is that simple...I'll cry with happiness.

Guess it's time to find a good orthopaedic surgeon.

Heading to the swimming baths tomorrow morning. First time in two decades. Should be ... interesting. Doctor reckoned the exercise bike would be fine, as there's no impact, but I reckon it would involve quite a bit of stress.

Will let you know results of how embarrassing swimming was

          • A bit hard to get even into the parking area at the swimming baths - turns out it's half term and the place was packed.

            Sod. Next week.

            • Early shift at work, got about thirty minutes in the swimming baths. I can honestly say I didn't drown, but I've got quite a bit of relearning of what I forgot over the last two and a half decades to do. Triceps (other side of upper arm - that's what they're called, right?) aching now, so they weren't getting as much exercise as they should.

Despite having been surrounded by water, I ended up rather thirsty. Go figure. Didn't get a huge amount of swimming done, but did a fair bit of treading water near the edge, and a few widths in the time. Definitely got my heart rate up, but my right knee is feeling it.

                • Although I spend most of this weekend attempting a new game (it's called Try to Drink All the Booze in the City, and I failed) I actually ate ok, and ended up doing a TON of walking last night.

I really do mean a ton. Probably around, oh 5 miles or so. With a hyperactive, boozed-up and sugared-up DJ from Buffalo NY.

We went to the Voltaire/Hellblinki concert, and, um...LOTS of dancing. So yeah. Definitely got my heart rate up this weekend.

More than you on this thread, though...

                    • Weighed myself today. Just two pounds over my best weight with WW.

                      Stocking at work does wonders.
                      I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

                        • Been a little while since I've been on the exercise bike. Just got off after twenty-five minutes. Knees not too bad yet, but the muscles are going to hurt majorly.

Average pulse of 155, max of 171 (should come down with practice), 394 calories reckoned. Will see how knees react tomorrow morning. Had the bike to two levels of resistance weaker than it was when I was at my best.

So, where's everyone else in this thread?

                          • I'm here!

I went back to the gym yesterday after being gone weeks. I got really sick (hospitalized for a really bad infection in both kidneys) so I didn't feel up to it.

I only did 20 minutes on the machine I usually do 45 minutes on. I also did some strength training and oh my heck am I sore.

                            • Thread resurrection, thanks SIGE!!

congrats on getting back to it. I need to start, and will probably do so when I get back from vacation. Though I did walk 3 miles the other day, just because...

I've lost 40 lbs since April 1st!! Just wanted to share.

SIGE, I hope you feel much better and get back up to where you were and go beyond!

                              • Weight this morning reckons 18st 1lb, so that went up significantly during my attempt to heal. Sod it - eating less and getting the exercising going once more.
