Have any of you been at the point where you can see your ship is sinking, know that you can't stop it, and all the lifeboats are gone...
Yeah, that's where I'm at right now.
Giving out much more info than I should right now.
My income is $18k a year (give or take depending on how many shifts I get called into at my oncall job at the hotel).
School is about $9k a year.
Utilities all combined is about $200 a month or $2400 a year (my internet is on contract and can't be cancelled and my electric and gas I'm already doing what I can to keep down).
About $50 a week in petrol (if I'm lucky) or $2600 a year
Food for me and my fiance is $100 a week if we shop smart, or $5200 a year.
As it is that my mother is the landlord she is willing to forgive me rent as long as I am enrolled in school, but I still have to pay the property maintanence fees to the HOA, which is $150 a month (about to go to $175, but I'll stick with $150 for argument). So another $1800 a year.
I will end up having to spend nearly $500 on maintanence on my car at its current level of use and going by manufacture's maintanence schedule.
Now for those of you at home following along with calculators, you will notice I've only covered my major expenses (and consequently the ones I have the least control over reducing) and I am at $21500, or a shortfall of $3500. My mother is willing to provide $200 a month (on top of not charging rent, and once again, only as long as I am going to school), which still leaves me in the hole $1100. I don't qualify for student loans or financial aid, and I know that I can't afford not to complete school. There just aren't enough jobs going around for my fiance, who has no car, no drivers license, and the misfortune of only having experience with the culinary industry which has been one of the hardest hit, to be able to find a job to be able to help out (not that he hasn't tried).
I have only one life boat left, and that is a promotion I applied for at work which has a salary of $26k, but I know I'm competing against people with a lot more seniority than me and my chances of getting it aren't that good. I don't know how many people actually applied, but there are over 200 people who are qualified for it (my best hope is that because it is the least prestigious of the three internal openings that less people are likely to have applied for it). Right now, honestly I don't kow what I'll do if I don't get the position, I desperately need the extra income. I can use whatever prayers, good thoughts, voodoo, or encouragement that any of you can provide. I'm at wits end and don't know who if anyone I can turn to.

(also, 100/mo for groceries is amazing for 2 people, but you might have slightly cheaper prices in a larger city than the one I'm in. The one I'm in, people go to Salt Lake or Seattle for huge stuff. ... And it's still the city for hospitals and stuff for the area.)
