I started buying the postcards today. I've already got 11, I tried to go for variety.

Too bad I couldn't find one with the Mall's Balls on it (it's a sculpture about 8ft. high that sits in the middle of the city's shopping precinct and is commonly referred to as the Malls' Balls)

Be careful with some of the cards this year. Several plants have rolled in new machines that will count cards with extras on them as... Extra and return cards for postage or request postage due from the recipient. I'm currently trying to find the list of plants that will have the special post marks.

What sort of extras? I'm planning on using standard size envelopes, but maybe putting some graphics on the outside. Would that be considered extras? Or are the machines looking for lumps inside the envelopes?

My brother is a technician in a US Post Office. I could ask him about the special postmarks if I knew what they were.

Oh so the little foam trees I am going to use on my cards might cause a problem?

If they squish down you should be good, it's looking for the little bells and dangly things people put on cards.

oh ok then these should be fine. I wouldn't think they were more then a 1/4 of an inch thick.

Life was too insane last year for me to participate, but I'm in for this year, even if things will be tight.

I'm going to try to do something uniquely me for my cards, but I'm also a notorious procrastinator, so we'll have to see what turns up.
