  • Halloween Costume Ideas and Suggestions

I know Halloween is a month away but I always like to keep an eye out for suggestions or ideas. Plus there's a chance I'll get to dress up if I have to work for Halloween.

Two years ago I went as Death minus the scythe. It was funny because I was working a cash register and selling people cigarettes. I would just point to each customer and quietly take their money and make change and they would wonder who it was behind the mesh fiber.

This year I think I want to go as Nathan from Repo: The Genetic Opera. I'm thinking a trenchcoat of some kind, but the helmet is a bit tricky. The medical bag is easy as there are costume shops in Salem and they're bound to have "doctor's" bags.

    Any ideas?

We're doing the Fourth Doctor Who, Sarah Jane and the Master (with my 1-year-old as the Doctor; he has crazy-curly hair). Should be geektastic, even if none of the other parents gets it.

Next year I want Husband and Khan to dress in matching suit and sunglasses and be The Blues Brothers, and I can be the mean nun with a yardstick.

You should dress up even if you don't work, just save up all your errands for that day!

I wish i had the money/time, I want to do a 'weeping angel' (Blink - 10th Dr.) and just stand there at the till. (also want to sneak onto the balcony of a Dr.Who fangirl I know and give her a good scare :evil
It's a tough row to hoe, and I'm just the Joe to hoe it.

I'm either being a ninja, viking, or I dunno. I wanted to be a Witch from L4D2, but I don't have time. Maybe I'll be a viking and have a shoulder dragon. I plan on going shopping because my birthday is the day after Halloween. Maybe walking around and handing out candy, it's like reverse trick-or-treating!

I would love a Who outfit, but I doubt anyone would get it.

Instead, I'm 99% sure I'm going as an "Adventureland" employee. My boyfriend has bought the "games games games" t-shirt, and I'll be buying the "rides rides rides" t-shirt.

Even though Halloween is on Sunday this year, I may or may not go to school dressed up on Friday. A lot of people at my school do that. Last year, I saw a Harry Dresden (tv version, obviously, because he was carrying around a hockey stick), a zombie bunny, and a few other things.

What I go as, though, largely depends on if I can find everything to put the costume together. Right now, I'm very much into this German musical called Tanz Der Vampire and am debating on dressing up as Magda, the barmaid who ends up being turned into a vampire by her creepy, pervy boss.

OT: i just want to thank you for this. My brain latched onto it and is trying to come up with what a viking ninja looks like. Don't ask, I am not sure what is wrong with me. But if I come up with what it looks like, I am doing that for Halloween.
Coffee should be strong, black and chewy! It should strip paint and frighten small children.

viking horn-helmet over ninja mask. Armor plates over shredded stealth clothing. A large axe strapped to the back/a katana or sai in hand. I have this planned out, just to get the picture up so you can see it. Possibly chainmail (silver sparkle/sequin fabric?) underneath the armor? I'm a girl so I'm going with the whole silver bowl style chest armor...yeah. Then I'm decorating with shurikens and little dragons.

Well, next year's costume is planned for Dragon*Con. I won't have time to work on it before Halloween, but others might be able to...

Please post pics when you get the costumes done!

Me, I'm just trying to get up some enthusiam to do some sewing (and for me, that's the difficult part). I want to make my son some medieval garb that can double for a pirate costume, and make similar garb for my husband.

I was a recent convert to Dr. Who. But I could see doing the 10th Doctor, possibly. I might even be able to pull that off easier than Nathan.

that was the plan, get someone to do the "what's that?" and hold still till no one

I went as a Lego brick to a cousin's 21st. Although I had to kinda half-ass my costume due to lack of time.

my costume? Blue jeans, black shoes and a light blue t-shirt with four "lego" circles drawn on it (to make it look like the top of a lego brick). Unfortunately I didn't do the drawings with the t-shirt on, so two of them were right over my chest.

Otherwise be creative maybe? Some of the costume threads I've seen in here from previous Halloween events have come out with some interesting ones.

                              Examples:

-Dress up as a waiter and hold out a tray with cobwebs on it (real or fake). The answer: web server!
-Dress up in a white sheet with probability equations written all over it. Answer: Ghost Of A Chance.
The best professors are mad scientists! -Zoom

                              Now queen of USSR-Land...
