    And let's not forget 2004.

Only team in baseball history to blow a 3-0 series lead in the playoffs. Nice!
You mean another year where they made it to the ALCS?

I'm missing the part where we weren't a good team that year.

Look, the Yankees have 27 championships. That's more than any other franchise in North America in any of the 4 major sports, and more than twice any other baseball team. Yes, they are often near or at the top.

Which is why we pick on their (few) weaknesses.

Like, say, 2001, when my Diamondbacks beat them in a classic World Series.

And yes, they were in the WS, so obviously they were one of the best teams that year. We get it. The Yankees rock.

That's one reason why so many people HATE them. And are thrilled that they won't be able to claim #28 this year.

Their batting was pathetic this post-season.

Their batting this year was pathetic in general.

They loaded their home lineup with lefties to take advantage of the home-run potential of Yankee Stadium. Which also padded their stats.

          Their pitching is getting old.

          Their stars are getting old.

Their relief is nowhere to be seen.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - they know how to work the system. It doesn't make them a good team.

And A-Rod returned to his normal postseason form: lousy. Which makes last year's performance an aberration. A-Rod does a better disappearing act in the postseason than anything I have in MY magic act!
