Judging from what I'm listening to right now, never pick anything by KoRn. NEVER. Or Sentenced. Especially Sentenced. They're more like...if you want to watch your last drop of hope circle the drain and drop into the abyss. Anyway.

This is a really specific hope song, but "Let Go Let Peace Come In." Basically about survivors of child abuse and how you can pick up the pieces again and go on. On a similar note: Dream Theater's "Anna Lee."

          "I'm a Survivor?"

          Westlife: "Flying Without Wings"
Mamas & Papas: "Dream a Little Dream of Me"
Lee Ann Womack: "I Hope You Dance"
"And so all the night-tide, I lie down by the side of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride!"
"Hallo elskan min/Trui ekki hvad timinn lidur"

"the climb" by Miley Cyrus I think (embarrassed to admit I like that song)

"Mary Ellen Carter" by Stan Roger
            esp this part:
"and you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow
With smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go
Turn to, and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain
And like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again

            Rise again, rise again
Though your heart it be broken or life about to end
No matter what you lost, be a home a love a friend
Like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again!"

Haha, sorry that was long, I love that song, and there is a story about how it saved some ones life (look it up in wiki, it's a good tale)
"Getting to the top is optional. Getting down is mandatory." _Ed Viesturs

"Now We Are Free" from the Gladiator soundtrack...

Those are all the ones I can think of right now. I like a lot of different music genres, if it wasn't obvious.

Oh man! I really should've played Defying Gravity! I forgot about that one >.<

ETA: Right before I played "Only Hope" by Mandy Moore last night, I dedicated it to my Marine, who was at the event. Of course I was in tears on air telling him that all the things he does for me, and his love, give me hope. Had a lot of "Awwwwwwws" from the crowd, and he said to me in private later that he may not show emotions much but that he does love me and it meant a lot to him. Yeah that had me crying again.... For the record, I did wake up for his call this morning

                        *comes out of lurking*

Well the songs that pulled me through my darkest days are:

                        Hold On by Good Charlotte

                        We Believe by Good Charlotte

                        March On by Good Charlotte

wow... I'm noticing a pattern here.

The Answer to Our Life by Backstreet Boys

Those are the only ones that I haven't seen mentioned that helped me out the most.

                        *hides again*

I love Hold On by Good Charlotte. Love love love it. Haven't heard the others, so I'll have to go download them now.

What about Simple Plan - Perfect?

                            Hold On by Good Charlotte
I was just going to say this for some reason.

he may not show emotions much
Sounds like every marine I've ever known. You gotta know how to look for those emotions because theyre brick walls, those boys

edit: simple plan is a little too whiny for me imo. It reeks of "suburban teenager" more than "i lived through this"

Oh god whats that staind song? All of you know what I'm talking about.
Thou shalt not take the name of thy goddess Whiskey in vain.

                              .
When he calls me every morning on his way home from work, and then calls me at night for our before bed smokey treat, just to talk to me before work/before bed, and hearing his voice change just a little bit when he says he loves me, or tells me to have a good night. That's when I see his emotions. He's a good good man.

                              ETA: Which Staind song????

Do you mean "It's Been a While?" 'Cause I LOVE that song.

How about the simple, classic "You Are My Sunshine?"

And just because it makes me laugh when I feel down, Aqua: "Candyman."
"And so all the night-tide, I lie down by the side of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride!"
"Hallo elskan min/Trui ekki hvad timinn lidur"
