Ok, so, the temperature turned cold overnight here, and I don't know if that's a contributing factor, but it's really starting to hurt a bit more than before. Just...generally owwie all over the place.

    This sucks.

    Lots.

Does Third Party Insurance come with rego at all in your state? Part of the rego costs for my car include Compulsory Third Party Insurance, which covers me if I hit a person (not that I will). My separate insurance will cover me if I hit someone else or another car, as well as being covered for Fire and Theft.
Here in the US, the rules vary from state to state. All states require some level of liability insurance. How they enforce it varies from state to state. I would assume that all states require you to provide proof of insurance when you renew your vehicle registration. What the state does if you cancel, default or otherwise terminate you insurance also varies.

The problem is catching the people. I could buy a car from a private individual. I don't need to show a drivers license or proof of insurance. I take a piece of cardboard, write "Tag Applied for" and hang it on the license plate bracket. I could drive around for months with no one questioning me. Where I live you have 30 days to complete the title and registration. Unless an officer notices my car "too often and too long," or I give them a reason to pull me over, they will never know.

Until Lupo gets the police report, there is little the she or a lawyer can do.

If she is lucky, someone else owns the vehicle, giving her someone else to go after.

Last time I was in a wreck, it hurt more a couple of days later. Gentle stretching and ice. Also, drink more water.

I also have it on "good authority" that ice cream helps. I have not seen it yet in the Journal of the American Medical Association. It will probably be in next week's issue.

I know, I was told. I just didn't think it'd hurt this bad. It sucks.

I wish I had ice cream, but don't. Definitely want some.

Trying to make you get up after hitting you with her car - yeah, I'd say that's evidence of selfishness, malice or stupidity.

I honestly think you have a case, Lupo. I wish you were in Aussieland, cause you then wouldn't need a case: we have a traffic accident commission which handles the medical costs of innocent victims. (Covered mostly by our compulsory third-party insurance for on-the-road cars.)

          3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
          4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Rabbitslippers? I want to see Lupo in virtual rabbitslippers.

Whether the driver has insurance or not, she is still responsible for paying damages. She has just decided to take the chance that she will have to pay out of her own pocket.

You poor dear, I hope you recover quickly.

Alternating ice and heat will help, personally I think the best form of heat for this kind of thing is a nice hot bubble bath. Take it easy and really try to listen to your body, it knows how much it can take, don't try to push yourself too hard.

Yeah, when I had my accident, I was fine that night (once they took off the neck brace so I could move around, at least), but the next morning I couldn't even sit up in bed.

Ice cream definitely helps. I know because I read it on the internet...somewhere ...

But according to this sheet of paper, the woman didn't have a license, just a state ID, and there was no insurance on the car.
Not Good for her. IME, you need a valid learner's permit and an adult in the car to do much more than tool around parking lots.

Oh no Lupo, I'm glad you weren't more seriously hurt. *offers gentle hugs, heating pads, arnica and cocoa*

Soon as you can, find a lawyer and nail that....thing...to the wall. No license, no insurance, pedestrian right of way, recklessness...

From her actions it looks like she knew she was in trouble and hoped if you were walking before anyone saw anything she'd be off the hook.

I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and the advice. I also want to thank those who have offered aid (and you know who you ARE). Saying thank you seems so inadequate in light of everything. But you remind me that there are still great people in the world, and that has helped most of all. I love the community here, and I love how well we come together when a member has tragedy. I've had several over the years I've been here and each time, I feel blessed and extremely grateful that everyone here is so supportive. I can't put into words how much this site, and everyone here, means to me.

There is one thing to consider. You would probably win any lawsuit against her, but if she has no money, you might still be SOL. I do support nailing her to the wall, but just keep that in mind.

At least she (or someone) has a car without insurance which can be sold, or wouldn't that be the consequence?
