Don't mess with your back. I would suggest perhaps getting yourself a lifting belt or corset of some sort to minimize the motions you make until it's healed. And even after it's healed, you're likely to have minor issues with it forever more. >_<
Juwl, your issue sounds like a potassium deficiency. Potassium, specifically, helps regulate muscle fitness. Things with phosphorus (soda, etc) will interfere with your body's ability to metabolize potassium. Magnesium is also in the same family, and people need about an even amount of each of those three for both bone density (we actually get too much calcium most of the time) and muscle health.
