Nope! It's icky. Pecan pie all the way for Thanksgiving (chocolate pie for other occasions).
Amusingly, I don't like either traditional holiday dessert pie--punpkin OR pecan.

I've got a recipe for spiced pecans in the cookbook somewhere that I could dig out if you're interested.
Thank, no. Not a huge fan of nuts, either. Appreciate it, though.

I love pumpkin pie. I like a lot of kinds of pie.

        I can't stand the crusts.

So I've taken to scraping the filling out and eating that.

Second the sweet potato thing...om nom nom. Um...I'm being weird and bringing tuna mac 'cause it's supposed to be "bring something you like" not necessarily "bring something Thanksgiving-related." So if you'd like the tuna mac recipe, I could give you that.

Pecans are yucky. We're having a pecan pie, and an apple pie because I don't like pecans. Also because I bought 20 pounds of Gold Rush apples. Apples are tasty!

I looooove pecans. Growing up, our neighbor had tons of pecan trees. I used to love to gather a pile, stomp on 'em to get the shell open, and eat them straight. *sigh*

                Chocolate .... Chip .... Cheeseball ... Must ... have ... the ... recipe.

When my family & I used to visit my mom's parents in San Angelo (TX), there'd be pecan trees all over the place! I remember when my Papo came to visit (the year before he died), and brought with him a huge bag of pecans that he collected on his walks.

Brings back great memories. And that's why I love pecans. And now I'm sad 'cos I miss my mom's parents and I miss San Angelo (it's the only town I'd want to live in in TX).

Green Bean Casserole is always my stand-by and out of the things I make, it's the one thing Mr. Rum thinks I cook better than his Momma. So there!

If you want a dessert but don't bake I have a fantastic chocolate mousse recipe (not on me at the moment but I can post it when I get home). It may not be traditional for most people but my mom has always made it so it is traditional for us.

If you don't want to do dessert I would go with a soup, actually that apple squash curry soup AC posted sounds pretty awesome.

It's delicious. If I'd had my shit together I would have put it on the menu for tomorrow, but I was so concerned with brining the turkey that I didn't really think about it. It might have been overkill, anyway. We only have six people at dinner this year because my Grandpa can't do the trip to Ithaca anymore, and my dad and step-mom are too busy with their shop to make the trip.

I'll pass, as I can make tuna mac no problem (and love the stuff), but don't think the others in attendance would really groove on it. But thanks for the offer!

I was actually at the point where I was saying screw it and was just going to bring wine (which I will still do), but a part of my brain is screaming "THIS IS BRILLIANT!"

So yes, I would LOVE this recipe. As soon as you can, if you don't mind, as I still have to get to the store for the ingredients (need to go to the store for some other things anyway), make the stuff, and get some sleep before heading to work in the morning. So time's a fleeting, so yes, would love this recipe at your soonest convenience, por favor. Muchas gracias!

Pumpkin pie isn't my thing. Same for pecan.

Damn, I'm getting antsy for that chocolate mousse recipe. Because once I get that, I can go to the store, get all the stuff for it, and also get the rest of what I need for my dinner, so I can come back here, cook my dinner, make the mouse, chill out, eat, drink beer, and relax until I go to bed.

You could always do a berry dessert. At the very least, it's semi authentic. (but avoid the cranberries if you're aiming for authenticity, it was a bad year for cranberries)

Jester I'm terribly sorry I got home to discover that my internet was out. I'll still post it tomorrow (the internet should be back up by then) so anyone who wants it can have it but I'm sorry I couldn't get it to you in time.
