For legit free material, I recommend the MobileRead Forums. Their collection is excellent. I also recommend Munsey's for more legit free material. Both places indulge in excellent formatting and spellchecking.

I found a really good site for free and reduced Nookbooks. It's legit.

Just a quick clarification: Free material from known sources (ie Amazon) of course will be fine. It's the shall we say "less than legitimate" sources that tend to have problems.Quoth Dave1982 View PostJust be aware that sometimes those "free" ebook downloads are actually pirated and/or improperly formatted (usually an OCR scan of a book that turns into a wall of text thats full of transcription errors).
I'll stick with my iPad though.

Not if like my boyfriend you get the author to sign the back of your ereader (sony reader in his and my case)Quoth NateTheChops View PostJust remember, a E-book is cool, but it doesn't beat an autographed first edition of a paperback or hardcover. (Plus all those signatures tend to mess up the screen)

Oh, trust me - I'll always read 'real' books too. I'm way too much of a nerd to only have the e-reader. I needs mah books too!Quoth NateTheChops View PostJust remember, a E-book is cool, but it doesn't beat an autographed first edition of a paperback or hardcover.

Yeah, but he's got some way cool items! Not like you can just haul fun stuff out of the dump, or anything.Quoth Kaylyn View PostMeh, I'm not a fan of Nook. He charges way too much for his stuff and I'll have you know he endorses child labor.

I have TOO many books...! (is there such a thing?)
They are everywhere. And theyre not these tiny little romance paperbacks. Im talking hefty hardcover history books and etc.
Ill still buy books of course, but ill clutter the shelves less with the random impulse buy.. (ie. Twilight... LOL).

Yeah, the Kindle is for the impulse stuff, or things I've been meaning to read but can't justify forking over the money to buy. I'll still buy real books for stuff I really care about.
Which reminds me, I have to check and see if Barnes and Noble in town still has that autographed Salvatore book in stock...it's been there forever but it might have finally gotten bought. It's from a series of his I haven't read yet, or maybe a standalone...I'm not really up on his stuff outside of the Drizzt series.

I'm waiting until more academic stuff becomes available in e-book format. There's definitely a trend towards that though, so maybe in a few years.... Do e-readers have a note or highlight function? Because that's a necessity. I mark my books up a lot.
