When I got looked over by some medics cause I was looking bad, my heart rate was synching in with the master beat coming from the music.
This is actually very common. Bass can cause the sternum to vibrate, which will affect your heart rate. Enough exposure, and it will mess with your body's ability to regulate heart rate properly. Consider this every time some idiot thumps his way down the street.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is designed so that when you get to the end of the album, and it's down to just the heartbeat (which will go on unchecked if you listen to the vinyl on a turntable), your heart should be beating in the same rhythm.

^When I went to the Theory of a Deadman/Halestorm concert here, I was kind of up by the front, and I could feel my...sternum, I guess? Felt like my whole collarbone--vibrating because it was so loud. It hurt.

You saw Theory of a Deadman?? How are they in concert?

Oh, hey. Just had this article show up today.

Turns out that music really is intoxicating, after all

Listening to the right music (different for everyone) can cause a dopamine release.

News coverage about some riot or another actually included (probably unintentionally) audio of a sonic weapon being used to disperse a mob.
            not surprised on that one.

on my first ship, we discussed ways to defend against "swimmer attack" (people swimming up to the ship to board or plant bombs etc) and ... well one of the answers was "turn on the sonar". that shit will rip your ears a new one. not so much because of the frequencies used but ... because of how fucking loud it is, especially if you're under water near the ship.

as for the "i-dosing" yeah... i call bullshit on the reports of people going high-crazy. that stuff's been around for years. only they use to call it hemi-sync. though for hemi-synch they tend to use more natural instruments rather than just blending a few techno tones.

the originator of the hemi-sync claimed that the tones & resulting frequencies could aid in astral projection.

interesting that now people are just trying to market it as an "audio drug"

i have some of it on cd. it takes a few listens to determine if you like it or not though. i have one album - "Winds over the world" - that I use to help me relax enough to sleep.

I have a CD sorta like that...it doesn't claim to aid astral projection, but a couple strange occurrences when I've been listening to it have convinced me otherwise.

Ugh, I've heard sounds/music with so much bass that was such a deep tone it made me feel sick. Maybe I'm just sensitive. Seems the low tones are almost worse than the high ones.

It's easy to make noise loud enough to cause discomfort & even break eardrums but then the inverse square law takes over so it's useless at any real distance.
