Wow. Sounds awesome. I am jealous
Riding a bike in Copenhagen is on my long list of things that I want to do. My Morfar tells me that it's great... as long as you don't confuse the bikepath with the footpath and don't have any tourists in your way! (Morfar stepped onto the bikepath briefly as a teenager and was knocked into the path of a train. After his close call, the man that knocked him over was yelling so hard that he split his pants!)

I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to build up my shoulder muscles without doing pushups as they mess up my wrists. Any suggestions?

      Goodness . That's some yelling.
Copenhagen is a nice town for bike riding. I went 32 km today and bought a Xingu beer .

Wear weights above the wrist and do some exercises?

      • And back, and mostly over the crud that seems to have been lingering.

I'm getting ready to get back into it, using baby steps.

I'm visiting my boyfriend, xx_wolfie_xx this weekend (was supposed to go home yesterday, but greyhound...oi vey!)

he and I talked and he's going to start holding me accountable. So, after the ice cream this weekend and all the other junk, I'm going to work on getting my food habits back under control.

As for working out, since he and I talk on skype everyday, for now, there will be no skype until I've worked out for 20 minutes a day, to start. (starting easy, to get back into it)

I know I can do this. I HAVE done this. In March/April 2009, I started the whole lifestyle change route, and in about 14 months, managed to lose over 60 lbs, and 3 pant sizes. I just...started slacking off, but dammit, I WILL finish losing that last 80 I need to get rid of, and I WILL get back into shape where I don't end up with a rash on my thighs just because I'm walking while wearing a dress. (yeeeeah, did that yesterday, ow)

BUT, yesterday was a decent start, I think. Best as I can figure using a fitness map/tracker, while we wandered around yesterday in downtown San Antonio and on the RiverWalk area, we probably covered almost 4 miles in about 2.5 hours. at my weight and the time (rounded up to 3 hours. We were actually out there for almost 4 hours and stopped here and there so I could squeal over the river and we could sightsee), still the calculator says I burned 772 calories.

I will start keeping better track of that, too.

            • I'm still alive...sorta.
I've been bad I will admit it now.
A couple days I didn't do anything cause my depression did a sneak attack and so I really didn't do much of anything anyway. (I'm feeling better now) I did two miles on Friday, then my arthritis decided that it should come out and play so Saturday I didn't go and walk. Then later that day/night I spent time very very drunk thanks to my cousins new wife who decided since my birthday was coming we should get some drinks. I LOVE my new cousin, she married into an uptight boring family and they were right, she IS trouble. Which makes her a favorite person of mine . Sunday I spent time remembering WHY I don't normally drink that much (just a headache yay), and yesterday I realized my arthritis actually was hurting me all weekend not just early Saturday I just didn't notice thanks to the headache I got from being drunk, and being drunk.

Today I will do something, I have no idea what but I will do it and hopefully it will be walking once the rain stops. I will not be lazy, I will not hang around, I'm going to take some Aleve since my hands still hurt a bit and go and do something today.

              • Hit a bit of a stall when I had to go out of town this weekend. Still, managed reasonable damage control. Did some pretty hard core yard work last week...like dragging downed trees out of my yard single handedly kind of yard work. That's got to count for something. That and digging in landscaping borders. That'll give you a workout.

                • i have been reading this thread from the beginning and maybe if I had other people pushing me I might actually get back on track.

Did about 5 to 6 miles this last weekend and boy was I hurting Monday. We have season tickets to the Seattle Sounders. When we have day games we part on one end of town (Pacific Place) and walk all the way to Qwest Field, so almost 3.5 miles round trip. Of course the hubby made sure we went up hills and what not. Sunday my parents and the hubby and I went to the Pacific Science Center to see the Star Wars exhibit for my birthday. that was another 2.5 miles or so.

Hopefully the hubby and I will get back in the habit of going to the YMCA this week. Just need to work on the food portion of this life change.

                    • ok, so i've been lazy, i have my excuses, but that's all they are... any way...
yesterday as soon as i walked in the door, i looked at the boyfriend and said "Get your shoes on, i wanna go for a walk" and kept on walking to the bedroom to get my sneakers (i wore "ankle-breakers" to work) - we left the apt a little after 5 pm, and walked around the complex trying to find things, and then went out on the trials through the neighborhood - it is apparently 2 miles +/- from the main street to the duck pond (which we made it to) and then turned around and walked back; along the way we also stopped and played on swings - we got home at 10 til 8 and yes i hurt but my complex has free Zumba classes at the fitness center on tues. nights at 7, so i'm going tonight.

tomorrow i'm having friends over so i'm not exercising, thursday me and a friend are dying each other's hair - so i won't get much exercise in; friday however may just find my butt downtown dancing my butt off!

                      • I have been pushing myself at the gym this week and feel really good.

I finally got back on the rower this week and have been using higer resistance levels on the bike and eliptical. I also increased the speed on the treadmill when I run. Instead of running at 7.5km/h I'm doing 8.5km/h now. I have managed to maintain a steady 4 mins at this pace - next week 5min

I have also started using heavier weights for my upper body work.

I havent made it back to the river to run recently as we have just come off daylight savings time and it's getting darker around the time I usually run. The track is not isolated so to speak, but not the best place to run on your own in the dark. But I'm planning to hit it on the weekend.

Yesterday after finishing my treadmill, the girl behind me asked me the best way to releive a stitch. I told her to breathe deeply and stretch it out (thats what I do and it works) She said thanks and I moved onto my weight work.

It wasnt until after that I realised that she could have asked any of the other women on the treadmills or either of the 2 staff members, but she chose to ask me. I felt rather chuffed at that
"When did you get a gold plated toilet?"
"We don't have a gold plated toilet"
"Oh dear, I think I just peed in your Tuba"

                            • yesterday after returning from San Antonio, I needed groceries, so I rode my bike to and from the store. 30 minute bike ride.

Today, I went for a walk during the first part of my lunch break for 20 minutes. Baby steps, baby steps, but I'm getting back into it.

I also went back to charting my calories, and did really well today, came well within the range I need to keep to. I'm resetting my goals this Sunday, I think, so I can knock off 30 lbs by August 1st, I think, though probably gonna get closer to 20.. Doesn't matter. I'm starting again!

I"m back to keeping track of my calories, too. To my surprise, I found that I am well within the daily calories I should be consuming: 1200-1500. I'm burning on average 2500 with my exercise program, so I'm having no trouble taking off the weight.

What surprised me is just how much sodium is in EVERYHING. When I eat a decent diet, I'm still consuming more than the 2 grams daily that is healthy. When I give in to my urge for less than healthy foods, it really gets up there. No wonder I've been having trouble with swelling

Daily tracking, I hope, will help me keep the sodium levels down.

Today is not a workout day for me. I did do some stretches and calf lifts when I was with my students at the hospital in clinic.
