cinema, there's supposed to be one more episode this year. Its not gone yet.
    Nope, not till the Autumn.

But yes, it sucks. Of course, have you noticed that ALL the tv shows are doing that now?
Doctor Who is British. 22+ episodes are not something we do. Although back in the 60's it was on 48 weeks of the year.

Some shows are better as short seasons with an single plot (The Wire), IMHO.

'A Good Man goes to War', was kind of anti-climactic, in that the Doctor has beaten graeter odds, and been angrier. Also the way future River was talking, I was expecting her revelation to be bad. I did thoroughly enjoy it, though.

I guess that's my issue. I couldn't put my finger on it. But The Doctor ISN'T human, and I'd rather he not act like it and go about snogging Rose and the like. It'd be like kissing a chimp. They are completely different species. He can care for his companions all he wants, and they can run after then all they want since well, he looks enough like a human, and they don't really know the difference.

It really comes down to the fact that the Doctor is over 900 and is smarter than the humans, and it can get frustrating. He's getting older. He's getting set in his ways a little, and he can't understand why Amy and Rory can't just get it.

It's why River is so bad ass. She gets it.

David Tennant was funny, and warm, and exciting. By the time his time in the series was done, even I thought he was just incredibly sweet and cute.

I think Smith is just ok. He has this... meanness, a kind of vindictive streak, about him that I don't like. David Tennants Dr was never like that. He managed to humanize the Dr and the character learned a few valuable lessons that seem to have gone out the window with Smith's.

River Song is soooo bad ass. She's my favorite companion ever.

I will always love Eccleston. (He was my first after all <3). He was manic and all over the place, and it was awesome. While Tennant was easy on the eyes, for me he suffered from spectacularly horrific writing, but did a great job with what he had to woke with. (I am not a Davies fan AT ALL).

Smith is doing an amazing job, he has the manic old man in a young body down to a science, and it's great. I'm also a Moffat fan. There were quite a few during Davies reign that were only Meh for me, but I throughly enjoyed every Moffat episode that he did then, and continue to do so now.

Also, HOLY SHIT the last episode! This was one that I actually didn't call before hand. I mean, I called the River/Doctor thing, but really? Rory is gonna kill the Doctor.

Before the strike, a season was 20-22 episodes. Ever since then, they've gotten lazy and are only giving between 10 and 13 episodes (at least on American television). Its disgusting.

Maybe they'll just bring 10 back.... they did park a copy (one that can actually age, just like David Tennant!) in a parallel universe..........

Yes, thirteen is official. I think it's been implied that going more than that causes degradation of the mind. (The Skaro Degradations, anyone?) And the Master went over thirteen only by body hopping, didn't he?

Thirteen. The official number is thirteen. However, with the Master and Rassilon having more than that, it is entirely possible that the Doctor might get more as well. Somehow. Especially with the statement about the number of control rooms archived in the last episode.

What I'm wondering about (of course, given that the Doctor gets out of the dire straits he appears to be in currently) is how they will stick with the canon of the Eighth Doctor whenever they get to the Twelfth.
Shouldn't be too hard. He is the doctor after all. He can do anything.

Did you know this whole season is written by Neil Gaiman (think the Stardust movie)?
He actually only wrote one episode - at least so far. The Doctors Wife, last weeks.

Matt Smith's take on the Doctor frankly reminds me of me; all over the place but somehow everything still makes sense *points to sig*

Confession: I totally cried over "The Doctor's Wife."
Oh, I did too. I wanted to jump through the screen and hug pretty much everyone involved in the episode (except the bad guy).

I really wonder what is going on with the girl. They have not cleared that up. I felt a little angry that they have given us two episodes that do not touch it. The next one had better have something about it in it.
I think that's just how Moffat structures a season. Took all of season 5 to find out about that crack in Amy's wall. Honestly, I really like that: I tend to dislike heavily episodic television, and prefer a larger story arc.

Confession: I totally cried over "The Doctor's Wife." Not what I expected that ep to be about, but confirmed something I'd thought for years, and deepened it. Well done, Gaiman!

(Also, I adore Matt Smith. I also adored Eccleston and Tennant, but in different ways.)
