  • Quorn

I use the tenders all the time. I finally decided to try a gruyere cutlet, and it was good! The cheese was all melty, nutty goodness, and the breading crispy. I will definitely buy these again, maybe serve them to friends and not tell them they aren't really chicken. Anyone else a Quorn fan?

I love using the "mince" in cooking.. I make a mean Quorn chilli.
I'm not very keen on the texture of the Quorn pieces or fillets though.

As for anything else Quorn, I can't try try as I'm gluten intolerant and just about all of the products I've looked at contain it in some form or other

I haven't tried the mince. But when using meat analogs, I'm usually replacing chicken. (For chili or tacos I just use beans). So, chili recipe, please?

Its actually a simple & quick recipe, but it does me ok.
No measurements as I just tend to throw things in a pot & go.
I normally use the frozen mince, as its usually on offer at the store I use
Throw a pack of that in a pan, along with some finely diced onion.
Add a 400g can of chopped tomatoes,
        500g pack of passata,
400g can of baked beans (as I'm not keen on kidney beans),
a flat teaspoon of minced garlic,
1-2 heaped teaspoons of minced red chilli.. depends how hot you like it &
optionally, a beef stock cube or knorr stock pot thing.

Simmer til all the excess liquid has gone & its thickened.

Can serve with the usual stuff, rice, baked potatoes, on chips (fries) with cheese on top & surprisingly its very nice with steamed quinoa

          huh.
          Reminds me of Shadowrun.
wait. Fungus? Fungus weirds me out... no mushrooms for me, thanks; let alone the claim that it's not even mushrooms...

I like mushrooms, but not that much. But I like Quorn waaaay more than soy products; it really does have "bite" like meat. I only care about that in certain dishes, though. I still like Boca. Quorn is imported, though, so a bit pricey, but I guess comparable to meat cost. I just have to watch it.

No. It tastes like chicken. Unless you're using the crumbles, which I haven't tried. (I never really did anything with ground beef even when I was eating meat.)

The flavour in a lot of the products depends on what food it is substituting.
I didnt think there was so many, the stores by me only seem to stock the basics

Some of those products look too yummy! I used to quite like the lamb style grills before I had my gluten intolerance diagnosed and the sausages are very versatile
