This reminds me, I really want to get a "mole map" done by a dermatologist sooner rather than later. I'm also the type that burns easily (pale skin, green eyes, blonde as a child) and I have lots of freckles and moles...nothing that seems off for now, but they bear watching.

I can go next week. Going camping this weekend. Does anyone have any recs for sunblock? I don't want to get any darker. I'm fair-skinned, Germanic, celtic, and native american ancestry. So I burn easily (if I'm out for long period, like all day), but it leaves a dark tan. Never had a sunburn that didn't.

Your spots are not likely cancerous, but if you want to start treating them cosmetically, you're best advised to see a dermatologist first anyway.

Alpha-hydroxy lotions have worked well for me, but if your sunspots are dark, you will need something stronger. A dermatologist will help you out with that.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

Just as high an SPF as you can get.Look for the non-greasy kind, the Kroger store brand is pretty good (says my wife the RPh),my complaint about any sunscreen is when I sweat it runs into my eyes & damn it hurts!!! I usually just do the lower half of my face & wear a broad-brimmed hat.

I'm only 23, and I've had 5 moles that I was worried about frozen off already. Doc checked them first, said there was nothing to worry about but froze them as a preventative measure. Scandinavian heritage + growing up in a sub-tropical/tropical and allergic to parabens... it was only relatively recently that I could find a sunscreen that didn't make me burn and blister within 5 min of application while still inside. Hell yeah, I'm careful about random changes! Extra careful about my munchkins, they're a Dutch/Danish/English/Cornish/Scots/German mix with very, very white skin + very light blonde hair + blue eyes.

            Any doubts, see a doctor!

This thread is great, since it's a reminder that I need to go to the dermatologist myself. I have a few moles that are worrisome and/or unsightly and some advice for some red spots on my upper arms. Need to get Fiance to see one as well for his acne.
