Now we're back in the apt on the top floor of an old brick building, no A/C or much air flow at all
luckily we have cold beer!!! Sam Adams Boston Lager to be specific
Yay beer! Douse yourself in the cold tub.

See, I thought you were in a Plains Province. The Great Plains are known for extreme weather; I lived in South Dakota up against the Black Hills for a little while. All that meant was that we didn't get super-dumped with snow, just dumped. Nasty winds, crazy heat and cold-- negative 30 F wasn't uncommon, it got down to -65 with windchill a few times. School was canceled that day. Heat? Yeah, 100F was common.
But Ottowa? isn't that more like near the backend of New York? *goes to check* Okay, head of New York. I was close.
... you poor bastards. Do you have a/c? and you have humidity! Gah! Go jump in a pool! The lake will probably boil you/infect you with something because bacteria rates are up due to heat.
*turns fans on Pony_Boy, Kisa and Talon* Here, I'm not using this one.
Also, I swear, soaking in a cold tub of water helps. Getting out, letting it dry off, then dipping yourself in again. *me gusta*

Yeesh. I was born near the equator, and even I can't stand this outdoor-oven. Good thing today I had my parents' air-conditioned ride to work, my own car's a/c is broke.

But speaking of which, our building's a/c broke down today
Maintenance claimed a mechanical issue, but we think they're just being cheapskates. Our work has to be manned 24/7, and they refuse to turn on a/c during evenings and weekends. I feel sorry for the folks who don't have my natural Varia suit upgrade.

When I lived in WA, we used to get lovely fluffy clouds on those very hot days (40+ C), the wind would sweep through like a storm was coming. There was thunder, lighting and the scent of rain... but everything was still dry. The rain was evaporating before it hit the ground!

It's nice to know I'm not suffering alone today is 105 with a heat index of 115. I've been hiding in the house in my too-short-for-public shorts and my not-small-enough tank top. I'm still dying. I'm starting to contemplate just wearing a bikini around

    Not south Florida...

I've been to Florida. Tampa, Florida. I don't remember it being as hot there as it is here.

I live in Pennsylvania & it's always around this time of year that it acts like it wants to be part of the south...lol. Today it got to 100 degrees & tomorrow it's gonna be 101!! Scorching hot weather.
It's like being in Florida. All this high heat is gonna make the winter feel that much colder.

.. and people always said it's too hot in south Florida. At least we get a nice seabreeze miles inland.

It gets hot then we get afternoon showers and it cools it down to the mid 80's for a little bit.

Um, not to be the Debbie Downer here, but TWC lists Ottawa's high as 95 F today, with a heat index of 105 F. Still ridiculously hot....although cooler than here. We've had highs around 100F for the past few weeks with no end in sight. This heat probably won't completely break until September.
thats 95F ( 35C ) without the humidity With the humidex the "feel like temperature" is 45C ( approx 113F)

That isn't really something that you should be joking about.....

All I can say is this: gigantic water bottle, filled 2/3 and frozen overnight. Carry it with you all day to drink/douse yourself with. At 120, you'll dry off quickly. Why, yes, I did grow up in the desert.
