Heh. An old friend of mine had a Ridgeback. Everyone was scare because of the "lion hunter" thing (I'm sure thats the right breed that was bred to hunt Lions, yes?)

Even as an adult, he turned into a big puppy around me. sitting leaning against me, legs askew (I call it puppy sitting, lol). I was like awesome to him haha.

Come to think of it, most dogs seem to like me almost instantly. Which is cool. Next step, wolves lol.
Yes, they are the lion hunter doggie.

Look into other breeds, too. West German high-lines GSD, show line Belgian malinois (like Zorro), collies (but they can be a crowd gatherer).
Not into collies, though they would be good for herding the poultry And I really don't need show quality either...

Honestly, my wife never planned it with Zorro, it just happened.

Pollux is depressed now. I have a feeling he thinks he did something wrong to displease the people he quickly fell in love with and doesn't know what. As good as it is to give him the exposure I don't think things like this help.

He barely touched his dinner last night and I gave him a soup bone before I left this morning, he nosed it a little but that was it.
Poor thing =( Just when he thought he had found a new pack...I bet he is worried that your pack will be kicking him out

    Quoted. For. Truth.
Pack animals get clinically depressed when unable to have or be around a pack.
    ... depression.

    s Pollux Poor baby.
my vet told us that with as high a proportion wolf as we had people normally had problems with them interfacing with the family, he had never seen a hybrid that got along with poultry and cats as pack members before.

Poor Pollux I wish we could take him but we have no room at the moment
I would take Pollux in an instant except for being totally broke and so far away =(

I'm the one with the Xolo She's doing very well though we had to drop her original trainer. She is terrific about retrival but not quite grasping the concept of 'only when requested'. Anything she finds on the floor or in reach she will get and bring to you, including CDs, shoes, her toys, or paper. So we're working on the 'only bring it if I ask you to bring it' part
We have the same problem with Zorro - he brings my wife anything e can get.

Show Lines =/= show quality. Just the lines so the temeprament is there and not like a high drive working line. She line breeders always have puppies that just won't win the beauty contests. They generally test for hips and elbows, too, so you know the genetics are good.

He is loved when he is in our home so there's no worry of him feeling rejected by us, we'd rather keep him and be inconvenienced than have him sent to a home that wasn't the best just fr our convenience.

I think tonight I'll watch a lot of TV and let him cuddle with me.

The guy who wanted him is taking hiim tomorrow for the day. He gets time with Pollux and Pollux gets some much needed exposure.

I had Pollux out from about 5 to 11PM last night - a lot of it with Luna out so he could play with her but some of it she was upstars in the bedroom asleep so he was able to lie on the couch with me and watch TV - he loves doing that.

Today he's with that person who wanted to adopt him. He wanted to take Pollux for the day (which he said before he would like to do from time to time).

Pollux is officially in his forever home now.

The owner is an ex-marine who is a police officer here in town and his wife who is at home now. He has experience with wolf hybrids in the past so Pollux should be "easy".

He wants to continue with Pollux's schutzhund "training" and also wants to help out with the meet the breed booth at the Eukanuba show this year.

Really? Hubby's fam had a full blooded wolf who got along great with a succession of fuzzy little friends. Not only was she completely gentle and trustworthy with even the tiniest kittens, she usually had a cat or two using her as a furry kitty bed. She'd lay down on her side and they'd curl up on top of her for a nap.
