I'll be doing it again this year, I kinda crashed hard last year but I wasn't in the right place. Think I already know what I'm going to do.

    Fairy Tales IN Space!

A group of short story all based around classic fairy stories with a futuristic settings. A Cyperpunk Beauty and the Beast? Got you covered. Sleeping beauty on a Generation ship. That too.

Still working on how to do some of them like Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, etc.
    That sounds cool!

I want to write a ghost story set on a starship--not for NaNo, just because...but I don't have the plot hook or characters yet...

I have not decided if I am going to attempt it this year or not. I have attempted it about 4 times, but have never finished. There was at least two attempts that I stopped writing after less then a week, for various reasons.

Now I just need to come up with a story idea that I can actually write about, with out realizing half way through that my story line is horrible.

        I definitely will be!!!!

I finished my first novel last year. It was amazing, actually finishing and...and getting to get a free copy (I ended up paying about $2 extra for faster shipping, but still)...

        It was amazing.

I think I'm going for it this year...

I haven't written ANYTHING in almost 4 years. I finished this trilogy I'd been working on for quite some time and then I started re-writing them and I got the first one done... and then that was it. When I lost my job at T-Mobile, I lost all my writing time. They didn't care what we did while we were on a call as long as it didn't affect the quality of the call, so I would sit there and write, write, write. I could never write at home, because I had someone hanging over my shoulder constantly yelling at me that my dreams were stupid and I'd never be good enough to get published, and even if I did I'd never make any money so I might as well give it up and keep my REAL job. So home was never a "creative" place for me.

It's time to change that. My court case is over, I have loads of time next month, and I have a great idea for a story. I actually worked out a few pages, and I REALLY love the idea. It was going to be a graphic novel, but I gave up on that because although I'm not terrible, I'll never ever draw as well as I write. And since I'm a perfectionist, that's a real problem for me.

Just as I sometimes sense I'm a thread-killer on here...I seem to have completely killed my regional forums. *sob* I even posted a new topic trying to get some discussion going...nothing.

That's okay, my region doesn't even have a forum.

There seem to be a few Nano Rebels in my region...people who are not strictly following all the rules, like using Nano to finish a book they've already started. Not that I care, I started this book once already and would like to keep chapter one anyway...

Kara: come join my region, I'm an ML this year! We will totally adopt you as a Long Distance Wrimo. I'm in North Orange County.

BTW, I'm SaintJoi on NaNoWriMo, if anyone wants to friend me. And no, I don't like that handle and wish I'd never picked it, but I can't dump it without losing all my stats (like my 8 year participation record) so I'm stuck with it.

I really wish they'd bring the friends list back online.

I wish I was this year! I miss it.

I'm working on a 32pg comic that needs to be done by mid December, and I'm the editor for the comic anthology it's being published in, so my time is just being eaten away.

Best of luck to everyone participating!

Well, the assassins idea won't really work. All I have are characters and some vague relationships between them, and a hint of a story (one of the assassins goes rogue and has to outwit the rest to stay alive), but nothing else. And the steampunk-ish fantasy one... I'm not sure I can do it justice.

So I've got a week to come up with something else. :/

My characters have taken over the story. This was originally intended to be a romance, perhaps with a not-so-great ending in this book, to be resolved in the next one. Now it's a tense supernatural...thing, with the romance ending in tragedy and the focus shifting to the issues the MC is dealing with personally. Though the romance is a HUGE driving factor in the decisions he makes.
