Austin. Clearly NOT Tampa. Hell yeah!

I was prepared to be unimpressed with the first act. A mariachi band? Yeah, whatever. Actually...yeah, hell yeah! My sombrero's off to this group.

I was also prepared to be unimpressed with the balancing act. Dude balanced on the end of a freakin' sword. They had me there, and it just got better. Were they a little shaky? Sure. Did they do things I have never seen in a balancing act? Hell yeah!

Tim Poe. Tim freakin' Poe. Now, if the guy had had no talent at all, his back story was pretty amazing. Of course, if he had no talent at all, his back story would be a nice prelude to a bad act. But not only was he good, he was so good that, even ignoring his back story, you had to be impressed by his musical talent. And this coming from a guy who Does Not Like Country Music. Tim Poe? Oh, hell yeah! Though, as indicated above, I am renaming him. He is now Tim freakin' Poe. 'Nuff said.

    The contortionists: Amazing. Period.

The kid with the keyboards: I didn't get it. Everyone loved him, but I just didn't see it. I saw him hit a couple of cool notes, but overall, I was unimpressed, and felt his performance was rushed. Maybe it was just a bad song choice, I dunno, but color me confused on this one.

Lulu: No. Just no. And NOT because of some bias against plus-sized dancers. I wanted Lulu to go out there and shock everyone and bust out some moves. Sadly, the best dance move of her entire time on the stage was given by NICK.

Joe Castillo (the sand guy): Simply WHOA. I have never seen anything like that. Whoa. Just whoa. And yet another whoa. Because....whoa.

The Human Cannonball: Impressive. Stupid. But damn impressive. And how stupid do I think it is? Stupid enough where I want to do it. Yes, I'm an adrenaline junkie, and I would KILL to try that stunt myself. (Yes, I'm serious.) Do I think this act can win the entire show? No. It's just one and done. Do I think it can make a long run. Oh....what's that phrase I'm looking for? Oh, yes.....HELL YEAH!

    Great Monday show!

I haven't watched the episode yet but should be able to tonight. I did see this comment on TWOP though and checked it out, and this Ukranian Sand artist was very impressive. I'm not sure if it's the one I watched or not, but here is the TWOP comment:

If anyone is interested, this is the winner of Ukraine's Got Talent in 2009. She won with sand art. The presentation seemed kind of long. She had over 4 minutes of time.

        Austin, night two!

Aurora Light Painters: I'll admit, I was honestly expecting them to be buzzed based off their descriptions. But that was surprisingly good. Although Kabe and I both felt they belonged more on PBS based on their overall personality.

Doppleganger Circus Freaks: Does it make me a bad person that I was laughing when she got lockjaw? Um...yeah.

The "No" Montage: Austin, why you do this? Just...why??? *shudders*

Eric and Olivia: I feel sorry for that dude. Great arrangement, great singing and good playing; he's going to get teased so much. I wonder if they'll have a development before Vegas?

Richard Grossman: Pretentious a**! "I do everything but sing"? Yeah, that's pretty much right. Good Lord, that was awful.

David the mindreader: That was impressive. No, I don't try to break the tricks down to figure out how they do it; I just think it's neat. And I thought he handled the trick well.

The "Yes" Montage: Why you no let us see them properly AGT? They looked neat!!

Andrew de Leon: Kabe states that we have a goth Poppycock. I'm wondering how he's a soprano. He hit higher than I can But that was amazing! That was great! Wow.

Kheldarson pretty much hit the nail on the head, not much to add from me. I will say that I am getting a very Deja Vu vibe off of this. I knew Andrew (? the last act of the night) was going to be amazing..before he opened his mouth. I swear I've seen the light painting before. It's been bugging me since night one. It grew when the guy with the stutter was on. Just wish Deja Vu wasn't till AFTER something happens lol..I could tell everybody who will win then.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

Well, looks like Poe isn't a shoo-in after all.. That doesn't sound good at all reading that information. I wonder if his segment will quietly disappear off the official AGT webfeeds soon?

On a better note however, the acts last night were pretty good. Technically I love the light paint, but the artists themselves didn't quite click with me. Something about them just seemed off that I couldn't place. Still, I do hope they do well. And I hope they don't end up in the same semifinal bracket as the sand artist.

Speaking of which, I did see Monday's show and the Sand artist was good. Not as great as the practiced Ukranian one from UGT, but definitely worthy to go forward. I wonder how they'll get the background dancers in his act? *G*

The Goth opera guy they ended with was good; but I wish Meisha was a judge to get a better feel for how good he was. His overall sob story though feels off to me. Hopefully it won't blow up as badly as Poe's seems to be.

The Mind reader has a good act. Hopefully he can expand it for the next few rounds if he goes on forward.

The "lounge singer and guitarist" were good. They sang and played well and are different enough to be noticable among the crowd. I'm looking forward to seeing what else they can do.

Overall, looks like a lot of good talent from Texas.

If I were Poe right now, I'd bow out and not show my face again. If he can substantiate, great..if not..he is over anyhow. Best to vanish before the judges get their hands oh him. I know one thing..if his story is not true...I am disappoint.

Same here. There's enough people who go through shit like that to not need to be demeaned by people faking it.

The mindreader messed me up. I mean, yeah, I'm a magician, and I understand basic mentalism, but what he did went beyond anything I've seen. I wonder if my one mentalist friend saw that, and if so, what he thought about it. I was impressed, and haven't the slightest idea how he did it.

As for Tim Poe....sad, so very sad. The saddest part is that, as I said in my original post about him, without the story, he is amazingly talented. So, with that kind of talent, if the back story isn't true, WHY would you make it up? This is the Information Age...you can't sneeze without someone commenting on it on facebook, for goodness sake! And you're gonna go on a national tv show and flat out lie to try to look good? Tim freakin' Poe....what a douche.

BTW the implication of the posts that outed him also said he was cut at Vegas, so most likely even the Vegas show won't even mention him now that the news is out.

                        And we're back to Tampa!

Untouchables were great to see. It definitely proves that the Miami All-Stars had a lot more going for them than talent alone last year. I think they'll go to the top 10 too.

Scott Brothers were fun! I don't think they'll go as far as the other dancers, but I liked them.

Charlie C was also good. I want to hear more of him...without the background music.

Taylor Ree had a neat trick. It'll be neat to see his full performance.

Puppets on Hand...I'm going to pretend that didn't happen. That's all.

Actually, let's just pretend that whole "No montage" never happened. I'm scared now.

Captain Dan was...original. Um...that's the best I can say. Yeah.

Twiggy was adorable! But Sharon was right...there wasn't enough promise to have her go through.

American BMX was awesome! I want to see how they amp it up for later!

Lindsey Norton was superb!!! Holy crap is she flexible. That was a brilliant routine. And she's so bubbly! I loved the music choice too. Narada CD's are some of my favorite instrumental CDs. And Cristofori's Dream is my absolute favorite piece off all of them.

Big Barry just made me think of Cake. And Cake is already filling the niche for Cake. Sorry Big Barry.

I, as a magician myself, am usually expected to comment on magicians on this show. And regarding the trick tonight, I have to say, really, it wasn't anything special. Ho hum, really. A snoozer.

Yeah, right. Clearly I'm full of shit. That trick was astounding, amazing, ridiculous, over the top, and omigoddidhereallyjustdothat? As a magician, I am not allowed to give away other magician's secrets. But I can tell you this: I couldn't give this one away anyway, since I haven't the foggiest freakin' clue how he did it.

Best act of the night. Period.

I'm beginning to think that I either fast forwarded through a few acts, or I just wasn't paying close enough attention; but I didn't even remember the Osborne impersonators, and saw them on Youtube later on. They were pretty decent though; it's rare that Sharon doesn't buzz that type of act after all.

A lot of good acts in Tampa this time at least. The dancer was great, reminding me a little of the young guy we had on CGT in the finals. The young Miami dancers were good too; they should do well overall I'm sure.

Over on TWOP, some eagle eyed viewers figured out the magic trick and how it was done and where it was messed up a little; but it's not something I noticed until I watched on Youtube later and saw a bit of extra movement on the bike. Still, it was an impressive act and I'm sure he'll go through a few more rounds.

The BMXers, were good as well; I've always liked seeing those daredevil bike acts so I hope they go further.

The puppeteers, actually I liked the concept of them. But the act itself was a face plant. Better voices/scripting might have saved them.

Water skiing squirrel, I've seen on the "Oh Neat" news segments before, so I was bored even before the first lap. Interesting to see, but no growth potential in the act.

The Osborne impersonators had like 30 seconds of film time on the show (Okay, not that short but...). I can't really say anything because we really didn't get to see them...

I find reading these threads that I don't tend to remember names unless they are distinctive, but if you describe the act to me I'll usually remember it. Especially since I'm usually doing something else while watching the show and not totally paying attention to the talk in between acts.
