Heard from Little Bits. There is no power on campus. The college is setting up a shelter in the only building that is on generator. She was going to her car to start it and charge her cell. I told her to be carful and make sure the snow is away from the tailpipe. No classes again tomorrow for her.

Here in the Ohio Valley, winds have finally died down we have been getting a mixutre of snow and rain all day. I think the worse is over for us

northeast pa here. some power outages and such. ended up working overnight last night getting emergency supplies ready for the stores in jersey new york and pa.

It's strange how the weather forecast changes. I seem to remember hearing that after NYC, Sandy would head over to Quebec and dump 2-4 inches of rain on us (a crapton, equivalent to 20-40 inches of snow in terms of intensity), and all the info I can currently find indicates that it changed its mind. I was kinda looking forward to crazy but not actually dangerous weather locally.

I have this dragon statue that my dad got me for christmas one year. It has a candle holder, so of course I put one of my candles in it when the power went out. A while later I looked up, and it was on fire. So yeah, that was fun. No damage, though.

Glad you are ok.
I lit a candle before we lost power, so we could see when it went out.

End of the night I look at the candle (it was fine ALL night), it broke a hole and there was wax all over the table. Thank goodness it's a glass table. Wax came right up when it cooled

Just outside of Philly. We lost power a few times, great thing about underground power lines, they aren't out for long.

Haven't tried leaving the house, yet. I have to go to work in 1/2 hour, hopefully my car is ok.

It's 60 and fairly clear right now Not much real damage in my area, lots of leaves and I saw a plastic trashcan lid shredded in the middle of the street (didn't look like it got run over). Lots of leaves everywhere but that seems to be about it. The store survived fine; we were open yesterday and it was really slow (which was good because we got to neaten the shelves from the Saturday hordes). Going by the remains of stock, apparently essential hurricane supplies in my town are Triscuits and Oreos/Chips Ahoy.

Our power went out briefly at about 2 AM; I was supposed to be at work at 8. I wake up, see the clock says 6:45 and then mom sticks her head in "What time are you supposed to be at work? It's 8:30" I punched in at 8:55, nobody said anything as long as I was there so they probably relaxed the rules at least for the day after. I was scheduled 8-1 so I was able to work at least the minimum shift; part of me was tempted to offer to stay an extra hour but I already pulled probably 5-6 additional in the past 3 days. If anyone says anything later this week I'll just say we lost power.

Nothing is open near me. No gasoline, nothing.

I couldn't get to work. Main road I take into town...is under about 2 feet of muddy water.

In case anyone needs a reminder, protege is quite right not to try.

NEVER drive through floodwaters, even if they seem shallow. You never know what's under the water - and you never know if a surge of water is coming down from upstream where you can't see it.

We're OK here. The power went out last night about 10:30 - 11ish. Came back about half an hour ago. Two trees came down in my street. Missed the power lines, but trashed someone's car. SEPTA started up at noon, and it looks like everything's up and running except regional rail. Lots of flooding by the river, but not as bad as other places.

Im in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Managed to survive just fine. Mostly wind and a few broken windows. Luckily they were just the storm windows that broke. Lost power for about 3 or so hours. Nothing major. After the wind died down, it rained like crazy.

Still here in DC. Thankfully the power never went out. Bus and rail service to resume and 2pm and back to work tomorrow.

I'm fine here in RI. I'm far inland so the worst we got was bad wind and only a few downed trees. Power barely went out.

My thoughts and prayers are with those who got a more direct hit from this storm.

From Alberta but stuck in Toronto, was supposed to fly home yesterday, but flight was cancelled. Hoping to get out tonight but not going to find out for a few more hours. High winds and rain here. Not heard about flooding but their was some to the east of us. My parents and siblings a few hours east of here are still without power. Been another rainy wedding day for our family. Starting a tradition there.
