    The most commonly used function in our billing menu is reached by keying "04." Now if you were programming the menu, would you make "40" (which is probably the most common miskey of "04") an option that for most users results in a security violation and completely throws the user out of the menu, back to having to enter the username and password?

    Nope, me neither. But that's what happens.

      The best part about menu items is that users will usually just memorize the numbers they have to press rather than what the menu items actually say. This can be strange for new users of the system. For instance, rather than "Closing functions. Day Close. *boots you back to regular menu after 5 mintues of reports* Open Pay Point. Enter starting cash(168.00)", people will just press "2-2-1-1-6-8-00-x". Weird for newcomers 0.o;

      This is worse with the lottery machine. I have no idea what the functions actually do, but I know that in order to close I hit "report-2-6" 0.o; And I'm getting to that point with the reports of the recent winning numbers for all 5 different online lotteries, all of which are different options.. clearly I've been there too long.

        4000 in lettuce is one huge salad. Maybe it was for a giant rabbit.
        Sorry,
        Just FYI, rabbits don't eat (or shouldn't) lettuce. It has no nutritional value for them. I have a rabbit, Roger, and used to have a Jessica til she passed away a couple years ago. Just something to keep in mind.

            Who framed roger rabbit? The same guy who killed Biggie and Tupac, that's who.

              I did that a few times at the bookstore when it got busy; usually I would inadvertently add a zero (this was back when even a quantity of 1 had to be entered). I would always catch my mistake upon or before totalling everything and the customers were generally nice about it.

              I made a purchase recently at a local gaming store, and a $3 used book was rung as QTY 10 instead of 1. At the time I didn't notice the mistake as my total purchase was large. I figured it out when I was on my way home; the owner remembered me (and that I definitely did not buy 13 books) so I was able to go back the next day and get it fixed.

                I accidently hit an extra button, and charged some poor guy $87.50 for a box of dog biscuits. Even now, they're not that expensive. Yet.
                Heh, bet they are at some of the upscale doggie specialty stores!
