  • I've just discovered this thread and my jaw dropped so far if it were any further it'd be in France.

It's a word I do not use lightly, but what a total utter f*cking c*nt.

    • The situation here is _not_ getting any better...

Any luck on the new job front?

      • Ghel, I wouldn't consider staying at that job, even WITH a promotion. That slimy son of a bitch is up to something. I know it. You know it. Aborigines in Australian wilderness know it. The only people who DON'T seem to know it are the big bosses - but even then, I'm sure it's willful ignorance on their part.

And they're going to need a fall guy to take the blame when it all goes sour. The big bosses will blame Goodhair. And Goodhair will gleefully deflect the blame elsewhere.

See if you can guess where. I get the feeling his original plan was to blame your old boss, but with her reduced presence at the bank, he's conveniently shifted his sights to the next best target - YOU.

We can argue all day about whether or not this is actual malice on his part. But the bottom line is this: I don't see Goodhair taking responsibility for his actions when this all blows up.

The old expression 'shit hits the fan' is completely apropos here. What happens when shit hits a fan? It gets slung EVERYWHERE. And who gets the worst of it? The people closest to the fan, of course. And the fact that Goodhair is still working in a bank, considering the mysterious circumstances surrounding his departure from his last job, tells me he's wearing his Teflon raincoat. If you can't move away from the fan, make damned sure you're wearing YOUR Teflon raincoat - and caution all those around you to do likewise.

"In the old horror movies there's always the old black janitor, who, when the things come shambling down the street, looks down and says, 'Feets, do yo thing!' and he runs away. Everybody laughs.

          Why???

He's the only one that lives!"

          • Yeah, it doesn't matter whether Goodhair's behavior is because of malice or apathy. I don't expect him to ever take blame or responsibility for any of the shit he's pulled.

The job search is going slow. I've posted my resume on the state jobs website, but no bites yet. None of the listings I've found there or in the local newspapers are for the types of jobs I'm looking for. My next step is, some time this week, to send out my resume with a cover letter to some of the area banks to see if that produces any leads.

Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Again, I could not agree with this more. Sorry to hear the job search isn't going well but keep your head high, something will come along.

I wonder who Goodhair will blame once your gone, the new girl?

              • Yeah, the fact that Goodhair even has THIS job shows how teflon the guy is. Maybe it's even worth considering a redirection in your career if there are more job opportunities in different areas.

                  Comment

                  • No updates, really. The job hunt is going slow. Goodhair isn't following through on his promises. Other than getting the process started to get me registered with the NMLS, which is waiting on an employee who's on vacation this week. Even if that gets completed, I don't know how I'm supposed to do loans as a "loan assistant" with no lending limits. Also no word on a raise.

                      • Just got back from a few days off, and it sounds even more like eltf177's assessment is correct.

First update: my former boss has finally put in notice that she's retiring retiring. Her last day is next Tuesday.

Second update: as we were discussing what work she needed to give me, she relayed a few things that Goodhair had told her. Apparently he has a "time frame" in mind to wait before he offers me the job I'm already doing. A sort of trial period that he hasn't even discussed with me. Nor did he tell my former boss how long that "time frame" is. He said he'd talked to me about it, but he hasn't.

She said to him that she doesn't like to see anyone taken advantage of (I'm grateful for that) and told him to discuss it with me, to make sure we're on the same page. Nothing yet, but then we know that Goodhair Time is worse than Customer Time.

ETA: I'm trying to figure out how I'm supposed to pass this trial period without any actual training.

You are wearing BIG signs saying 'Patsy" "Scapegoat" 'Fallguy' Once your manager retires there is no one to give you any backup at all (and that is assuming she would have). Run. while you can.

                          • Decent chance here that when Goodhair's chickens finally come home to roost, you could not only wind up out of a job and with no chance to get another one in the industry, but maybe even sued.

All he and the bank have to do is say "Ghel acted outside the scope of her training, so we're not responsible for any of this." And it may work.

                            • It wouldn't simply be hard on me financially. It would be impossible, financially, for me to quit my job without having something else lined up. Things are going slow on that front, unfortunately.

Meanwhile, Goodhair and I did talk for a bit this afternoon. He said that he'd planned on doing a review after 60 days. Though he didn't say whether that was 60 days from now, or 60 days from when my former boss went part-time. So it could be two weeks from now, or it could be 2 months from now. Either way, nice of him to finally tell me. So I put a note on my calendar 60 days from now, to see if he follows through.

Also, WRT training, he suggested I sign up for a 2-day class on lending, focusing heavily on compliance. Not quite the training I was looking for (and I mentioned that), but at least it's a start. The training isn't until April, though, about when the 60 days expire, if they start now.

Goodhair apparently isn't good at reading people, either. He said he couldn't tell that I was nervous or overwhelmed. How is that possible, when I've told him several times over the last 45 days that I'm overwhelmed? The guy either has the long-term memory of Ten Second Tom, or he's the lyingest liar in Liarton. I'm favoring the latter.

He said he wants to make sure I have the tools I need to do my job. (Ok, the training is the start of that.) He also said he wants to make sure I'm compensated appropriately. I'll believe that when I see it. And he said he can fix anything if he knows there's a problem, so make sure he knows. -_- I've told him several times, and nothing's come of it, so I basically gave up telling him. WTELF?

I just had another thought. It may be that, in Goodhair's mind, he's offered me the position. But to me, "You do want to continue lending, don't you? You seem to enjoy the work." is not a job offer.
