I don't know my coworkers at my new job well enough to consider adding them. Ditto for the bossman.

There's so many stories of people bitching on FB because they've forgotten/as too stupid to realise their boss is able to see it... Even if you're not friends with the boss, if you're friends with someone who is then there's a greater chance they'll be able to see it.

I have added only 3 people I know through work as Facebook friends; none work at my site although two used to and one of those doesn't work for the company any more. Judging by the posts the third one makes, they may be trying to get in my pants... And as I'm recently seperated, I'm willing to entertain the notion for a while

I only have like two people I used to work with on my facebook. Rest are mostly people I met on other sites and family. I rarely post anything. It's mostly just used for me to talk to people in private message. Sometimes, I will post on my wall. Other than that, I just keep a low profile.

There are a few reasons I haven't jumped on the FB bandwagon.

Primary among them is that I have an online handle (Jay 2K Winger) that I've been using now pretty much since day one online. I avoid associating that name with my real name, because I want my real life and my online life to be separate. So I'd run into the problem of do I make a profile for my real name, or a FB profile for Jay Winger?

A few people iRL know I use that name online (mostly friends and family), so that's not a problem. But if I want to possibly re-connect with old RL friends on FB who may not be aware of it, I'd be better off using my real name. And I don't want to have two separate FB accounts to have to update and monitor.

While I am currently unemployed at the moment there is no way in hell I would ever add a boss to my friends list on facebook. Ever. Not a chance in HELL.

Nope......the closest I have to co-workers on Facebook are the church's former music director (who was hired while I was still the secretary), and two guys whom I knew when I worked at Macy's, although they both worked at a different store in the mall.

Nope. But mainly because my boss thinks FB is ebil. But even if he was on, I wouldn't friend him. My two higher-up boses are on FB but I won't friend them either. I am friends with other people in my company, but no one I work with on a daily basis. My PT job, not really, I was friends with several, but they've all left, and I don't see th need to add anyone else.

Not that I complain about either job on FB, because you never know where it might end up! But I just like to keep my work and professional lives separate, for hte most part.

                  Not a hope in hell.

I don't allow cow-orkers to connect on FB. LinkedIn? Yes. FB? NEVER.

There are too many examples of people getting canned because of their own stupidity.

This is one reason why I don't have a FaceBook account. There are other reasons, sure, but this is definitely one of them.

I don't see the need to have a FB account. And even if I did (and at some point I may), I would be very careful who I "friended" and what I actually put up there.
I didn't get a FB until my last year of college because my adviser warned us that employers see a lack of a FB page as a warning sign that you're either unsocial or an oddball.

                    I rarely post stuff though.

Though I understand that if FB believes you don't have enough "friends" (whatever that arbitrary number is) they can delete your account.
Really? I don't have that many friends and have never heard of that.

Here's a good reason not to have your boss on Facebook.

I have two coworkers on my FB list. One I was friends with before we started working together and the other I trust reasonably enough to not rat me out for anything I might say. But I don't post about work stuff. Really I only post nerdy pics and sayings.

I'm FB friends with my former boss from the library job, but I didn't add her until I wasn't working there anymore.

No, and luckily I've managed to keep her from finding out much about Facebook because I do not want to troubleshoot it for her all hours of the night.

I have a few coworkers I do not despise on there, mostly the ones who have retired and who I stay in touch with for lunch get togethers. I don't let them see everything I post and I block most of their newsfeeds anyway.

On Facebook, I needed a clean break between work life and private life. When our corporation started letting go of many of it's full time workers and replacing them with part-timers... I didn't want to think about my job anymore when I got home.

I suppose it depends on how well you get on well with your coworkers. I work in a tech support environment in work so most of the people in my department are people I get on well with anyway - ie fellow geeks. Some of them aren't just Facebook friends but drinking buddies and Xbox Live game buddies.

In fact, our team has got a private Facebook group where we post work-related and geeky funnies and news stories. As for our current line manager? Well, he probably puts more funny stuff on his Facebook page than the rest of us put together.

Yes, our 'social media' policy is quite strict (in fact, someone recently got laid off for something he said - I can't comment as I didn't see what he posted). But, generally speaking as long as you're not slating the company or speaking about your fantastic day out at the beach when you've called in sick, then I don't see a problem.

However, I wouldn't put some of the higher management on my Facebook friends list, plus I've been very selective of other managers I've been under in the past. Pick and choose, the same as you would anyone really.
