  • Discounts/free stuff from your work

After working for 3 months, I received a discount card (20% off orders under $10), and when I work I get 50% off food on that day from my store (not other locations). I treat bf to cheap coffee with that card.

Overnight staff get free food on their break. It's for our safety, so we're behind the counter at all times. And usually, after a shift, I grab a soda to enjoy on the train home. I ALWAYS ask a manager first, though.

In conclusion, we have a decent employee discount. My siblings (both at different fast food stores) get 20% off or a free upsize, whether they're working that day or not. My bff gets 5% off from her grocery store job. I'm really curious about other people's discounts. Please share!

My favorite discount of all time... working for a book club where we paid publisher's prices for books. $1 if they were ever so slightly damaged, $2 to $3 for brand new books.

My current job offers things I wouldn't want to give up: Free cable (including HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, and Playboy) and free internet.

Free tokens for non-merchandising, non-ticket dispensing games. Or, by the exact quote, "No game that dispenses anything of real value."

Also, as we're in a mall location, various other stores in the mall provide a discount to all employees of stores in the mall. Nothing like 10% off of smoothies, subs, and tacos. Though we did have one retail store that did. *misses CompUSA*

I saw this article in yesterday's newspaper:

Subway worker sacked for sharing complimentary Coke

Of the jobs I've worked over the years, the ones that stand out to me as being cool are as follows:

Blockbuster: 5 free rentals a week, every week, and access to stuff that has been shipped but hasn't hit street-date.

Cinemark: Free tickets for me and 1 other to whatever show we wanted, 1/2 off concessions, and free soda on breaks... but the job was hell, so even that wasn't enough to make me stay.

Papa Johns: 1/2 off our orders, we get to eat mistakes, and the occasional crew-pie as a reward for doing great during a rush. Works, hold the It.Sausage, add Chicken, triple cheese... mmmmmmm.

The Discount card from Walmart was nice. It was for 10% but still.
Now where I work, free sodas, discount for me on Anime. Getting to take the games meant for the store, home, if I want too.

It's a single soda! It's not as if she got two drinks. That's insane. As long as the free-drink policy isn't being really abused, why should they care who actually drinks it?
(what would have happened if she had drank half, decided she didn't want the rest and gave half to the friend)

Does being able to get the equivalent of a degree while being paid (even if it is over 6 years instead of 3) count? Oh and free training courses related to I.T./networking (Cisco, microsoft, LPI, etc.).

I get free tuition at the university I work at . . . very nice!!

I can only take 6 credit hours a semester, so it will take me another seven years to get my BA - but its worth it!!

I work full time here, when I got hired I felt like I got a new job and a scholarship!

Whiskeyclone discounts I got were 30% off on the basketball team's merchandise which is no use to me as I detest basketball.

BK - 50% off anything, within limits. You weren't supposed to feed your family just yourself. But if it was a cool manager and the DM and owner wasn't there they didn't care. Sodas were free, fries and shakes were usually upsized nongratus.

Sweet Factory (candy store)- 1 free pound a week, half price after that (or was it just 1 pound at half price per week and then you get to pay full price after that).

Motel 6 - All the porn you find, you can keep. Oh my god thank god for idustrial strength rubber gloves.

Summer Camp - Free reign of the staff house plus the ability to raid the camp kitchen for munchies. that and all the pet tarantalas (sp) I could handle.

At my gas station, 25 cent coffee and/or fountain soda with unlimited refills. (Too bad I don't like either, but my fav. ex benefited.)

At the two previous gas stations (same owner for both), we didn't get any kind of discount, but if we were dead broke, we could grab a bag of chips or something as long as we left a note and paid for it ASAP afterwords. He also advanced me half my check when I visited Becks 2 years ( ) ago, and borrowed me some money when I was short on the rent once.
                        I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

Best job ever for free stuff was the wine store:

6 free bottles of premium wine a month.

Christmas bonus was one full CASE of wine, plus a $100 grocery store gift card.

And that was just for the part time clerks. I have no idea what the managers got, but it must have been pretty sweet.

Three weeks off in July, December 18 through January 6 off, a week off in April, Thanksgiving and its Friday off, most bank holidays, free drinks, fifty percent off all food, very flexible hours, cable tv in my office...

Working for a private, Catholic university was nice. Too bad the pay stunk.

We get 20% off most things in the pet shop (animals exluded)

and, depending who serves me, I get my staff discount from B.K., not bad since I left there 7 years ago
