Only 2.5 km according to mapquest, which equals 3 stops or 5 minutes with public transportation
My ticket costs about 50$ per month.

I could ride my bicycle too...theoretically.... but I live on the 3rd floor and "park" on my balcony, the idea of dragging the bike down the stairs and back up in the evening doesn´t quite rock my world , plus taking the risk of it being stolen during the day (has happened before, both in front of my house and downtown, hence the odd parking spot )...and messing up my hair and make-up riding.

Only 1.9 miles. I generally walk/bike in this weather. And I store my bike in the basement storage of the apartment building. Winter, I do take the bus, even if it takes longer than walking, due to having to go downtown and transfer.

I live a bit less than five miles from work. I could take either the streets, which is about ten minutes, or the freeway which can take anywhere between ten or forty minutes depending on traffic.

Yet another thing I miss about retail, that was only a one mile walk before I moved.

I can give 2 examples. At the 2 jobs I held that were true customer service jobs, the first was less than ÂĽ mile. (I lived 2 doors away) The second was a 103.5 mile round trip daily, so 51Âľ miles one way. Averaging the two, I guess it would be 26 miles, right at your average.

          Dang, merely average again.

2.9 miles for me. Takes 8-11 minutes by car depending on time of day (I pass four schools, so traffic around them can be bad just before school starts and just after dismissal). If gas gets much worse I'll be getting my bike repaired and trying that, but I'm not sure how long it will take.

15 km (9 miles), and it takes me 55 minutes on the bike. It's an hour exactly on the bus, unless I miss the connection, in which case it's 1h20.

I ride most mornings... including today, when it snowed! Yes, in May!

The nearest location I service is 65 minutes away. The furthest out one is 110 minutes away. Over twisty, winding, up-and-down dangerous-when-wet-or-snowy back roads.

Now, I live away from two nice locations that are only 25 minutes from my house... but got jerrymandered into another region of our company. Oh, and I'm sure that the location that's 110 minutes away is less than an hour from someone else.

Can you tell that it's an sore point with me?

According to mapquest the drive should only take me half an hour, however, it has been my experience that it is NEVER less than 45 mins due to traffic. Even at 3am.
At a guess, you live in Chicago? You know traffic in a city is scary when the radio stations run traffic reports at 11PM.

Boston, it's gotta be just as bad or worse than Chicago. Especially since the tunnel collapse last year that was just reopened in the last month.

depending on how much i break the speed limit, it takes me about 6-10 minutes to get to work. i think its roughly 2 miles.
