That's what I'm about to find out. O_o You see, my supermarket has decided to no longer accept cheques as payment from today onwards. We've had posters up for a month, plus divider ads and little leaflety thingies that we've given out to every customer who comes bearing a chequebook; yet, I can confidently predict that cuz we're no longer accepting cheques from today, two things will happen.
One, a million people will want to pay for their shopping with a cheque and two, those people will be sucky when denied. I also expect many cries of "But no-one told us!" and "This is outrageous!" Fact is, the supermarket isn't banning cheques to make their life hell, it's for security issues; and that we're fed up of bouncing cheques. At least if you have no money and try to pay with a credit card, the card gets declined. A cheque however goes into the till and then when it's banked, it bounces and there's all that clearup to deal with. But we can hardly expect SCs to understand that.
