  • Songs that run through my head

Lately I've been keeping track of songs that randomly pop into my head while I'm at work. I'm not allowed to listen to an MP3 player because I need to listen to the noises at the plant; we're trained to use our senses for minute (that's my-noot, not min-it ) changes. We do not use our sense of taste, for obvious reasons, but sometimes that happens accidentally. But that's another post for another time.

Besides, I don't want my MP3 player getting poopy.

While doing my rounds, or maintenance, or whatever, random songs pop into my head. I don't know why these particular songs show up; they just do. So here is a list from the past week of random mind-generated songs.
    • The Best Things in Life are Free - Luther Vandross & Janet Jackson
    • Power of Love - Luther Vandross
    • Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
    • Under the Sea - Little Mermaid soundtrack
    • You - Candlebox (remember them?)
    • Chatahoochie - Alan Jackson

I don't know why these particular songs jumped into my head. It just happens.

Anyone else have this happen to them during their work day?
Age and wisdom don't necessarily go together. Some people just become stupid with more authority.

It seems like nearly every day I find myself remembering the soundtrack to The Nightmare Before Christmas...
"IT stands away, interrupting himself from the incessant hammering of the kittens…"

I tend to put the local oldies station on. Currently, I have "The Night Chicago Died" in my head, as that was recently played. Most often, though, I get "City of Delusion" by Muse or "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid. The latter, I've gotten a lot, lately.

It never fails. It's always the song from the ice skating rink scene from Dawn of the Dead..

A snazzy compliation of MetallicA, AnAkA, and Linkin Park, with some really random stuff thrown in.

And occasionally the Winnie the Pooh song.

The Smurf song --Yeah, I don't why either.

Killing Me Softly --It always comes on the radio right after it runs through my head. It's weird.

The entirety of Nightmare before Christmas (seriously, front to back, EVERYTHING! I used to watch that movie thirty times in a day, every day, with subtitles, then without, repeat)
Random songs from Animaniacs (usually, the Countries of the World, or the Senses Song)
Random Disney songs (usually Hunchback of Notre Dame or Aladdin... no idea why Aladdin, and I can only seem to remember one or two songs from Hunchback.)
There used to be a particular song that no matter what time it was, any time I drove by this particular building on my way home from work, it would suddenly start playing on the radio. This song was the one that most people know by Eagle Eye Daddy... the name escapes me, something like Save tonight?

I have a rather... eclectic musical taste.
Songs seldom run through my head like that, the last time I can remember, it was Johnny Cash.

At work we do have plasmas with music videos randomly playing on them all day tho.
Same. Twenty or so. Songs. Every. Day. For the past. Two. Months.

Most of the... "artists" I don't even know.
Out of those that I recognize, Mariah Carey pisses me off (she's SHRIEKING ffs) but some Micheal Jackson oldies can't be bad. I totally LOVE the 80's pop vids, like Sandra's "Midnight Man". I may listen to weird music, but I also have profound liking for 80's pop and electro music

And it also happens to be music that fits best into a small McD's dining room IMO.
Not very intrusive nor annoying, catchy.

Sometimes it's music I just listened to, sometimes just a random tune. Wednesday night, it was "Lilium" the theme from Elfen Lied, tho I hadn't seen that for a while back then. Maybe I was feeling murderous?

That reminds me...that song brings back memories...I should find a copy.
