so I recently started work at a new job as an assistant manager in a store in an outlet mall. Today was my first official day working as the manager on duty. What a day THAT was. First thing I had to do was test the alarm system (which hasnt been done yet because corporate forgot to tell us we had to do it once per quarter) and we find out that our front doors, motion sensors, and stock room door dont communicate with the alarm company....only the back delivery door does. SO...I got to schedule an appointment for them to come out and repair that.
NEXT, I had to do payroll. As I was working on payroll, the keyholder (another manager a step below assistant) kept coming around trying to see what everyone gets paid. I finally had to put it away in the filing cabinet which only myself and the store manager have access to so that she couldnt see what everyone gets paid. I finished payroll later after she left. Looks like I get to talk to the store manager tomorrow.
I also had about 5 other stores in the corporation call and make orders for products which I had and they didnt which I had to process and get ready for shipping. In the meantime the regular associates (employees) took every opportunity to disappear...so I would have to go search and finally find them and tell them to get back out to the sales floor and help customers. I think they were just testing me to see what they could get away.
Sheesh...what a day......Im exausted
