  • I ended my night Friday by reading a last name on a check.

    Montoya.

I quoted Princess Bride for the rest of the night and nearly killed my Assistant Manager with a Miracle Max quote.
Now a member of that alien race called Management.

Yeah, you see that right. Pink. Harness.

      • When I was at my previous job, I once saw a legitimate account with the name of Bruce Wayne.

No, he wasn't in Gotham City.

I also saw someone with the last name of Hitler. Legit account. That, though, I had to question...I could understand if someone had had that name for years, before Adolf crawled out of his hole...but to still keep it, years later? If that had been me, I'd have run like hell to get it changed. I mean, some names are never going to bring to mind sweetness and light.

        • I noticed on one of the for-sale signs outside of one of the houses in my neighborhood that the real estate agent's last name was Greathouse. Tell me she's not in the perfect line of work.

          • Not a last name, but a great first name I helped this weekend: Kricket. Yup. With a K.

I cannot confirm or deny the rumors this person has a sibling named Grasshopper.

One book on names that I read some years ago claimed that there was a Sgt Hittler in the RAF during WWII. Story goes that his CO gently suggested that changing his name would help his chances at promotion, and the Sergeant retorted "Let that Austrian bastard change his name, I've more right to it than he has."

                  • A woman I once worked with is named Ginger Ale. Her best friend and coworker is Cherry Koch (pronounced "coke"). Both were in management and attended company conferences regularly together, sharing a room. It was sometimes a little hard to get reservation folk to take them seriously and they always had to prove it wasn't a joke.

I've often noticed some interesting names show up as I've checked stuff in at the library......"Robyn Bird" and "Overdue Undue" are a few which come to mind.
I hung with a Robyn Bird. (Sisters Beckie and Bonnie.)

The one's I always throw into threads like these: a high school classmate 'Penny Anita Blow' (brother Tim) Seriously. Some parents should be shot.

Big car dealer in my hometown: 'Richard Head.' (So not that uncommon EQ.)

And a recent acquisition from my wife's corporate rag honoring him as Tech Support Specialist of the Year: 'Mo Ram.'

                      • Friends last night Hornsy.
Last night on Bucket check, we had a Vel. Suits (Velicia was the full name).
And we had a DJ in who went by Blue Rhapsody. I was so amused LOL Especially after breakfast when someone told him to get a clue (On how to get somewhere they'd explained a few times). Me: "Blue needs a clue?"
                        Yep.. fun day.

                        • Henry Dyck. Think of nicknames for Henry and you'll realise why the poor fellow had to start going by his formal name when he came to Canada. (It's worse in that this is a culture where each village would have been fairly related because it wasn't that big a village, and each family would name the oldest boy Henry, then the second one Jakob, etc. This varied by family of course, but after two or three generations of 10 kids, everyone's related and using the same 10 names. So nicknames were essential).

                            • Apologies for resurrecting this thread, and with a threadjack for a first and middle name. (I love this thread)

First name - Doodah (not sure of spelling). My mother met this woman.

                              Middle name - Farto

You don't see strange middle names so often because people can keep quiet about them. I have no idea what made Ms. X Farto McAnonomous list her middle name on a form that didn't actually ask for a middle name. I wouldn't use my middle name if it was Farto...

In honour of these new finds I'm now working on the best combination of names. I am undecided about the last name though.

Until I find the perfect last name I'm sticking with Doodah Farto McOstrich. All 3 real names, and I'm using that in any situation where I need a random name to reference.

                              Victoria J

(J is for my middle name, I always use it because it doesn't reference a bodily function).
