I don't get the thing about the high school diploma*, either. I graduated in 1987, have been to college (two bachelors degrees) and a community college (Pharm Tech certificate). Who the hell cares anymore?

*I do happen to know where mine is, though. My parents have both gotten into genealogy, which means preserving documents. So they've gotten scans of my high school diploma, degrees, CNM certificate, PTCB certificate, and state Board of Pharmacy license.

Transcripts? What is this word you speak?

I couldn't get that or a copy of my diploma at this point. My grade school AND my HS both closed down years ago. So did the HS my sisters went to. I think my diploma made it to the new house when we moved, but who knows. I haven't seen it for years. I doubt the local school board could find anything, either. They usually can't find their own butts without a map and you spot them one cheek.
The last public grade school I attended was 3rd grade - that school is still around, but that was in the 1980s... somehow I doubt they have the records.

All the other grade schools I went to are long gone.

I also have a couple of years of college under my belt and have proof, but that wasn't good enough. Funny enough though, they keep calling me every few hours as of Monday trying to get me to come back, even though I told them politely once that I wasn't interested, and I haven't been nearly as polite since then. I also decided to get my ass back in school and signed up for wintermester and spring classes at a community college.

So they were okay with no high school diploma but no middle school, no job.
        That makes no sense.

I'm not sure why employers care about high school GPA (mine sucked due to a few teachers that for some reason had it in for me). I would think that the college pone is all that counts.

I honestly have no idea what my GPA was in high school. I also wonder why they have a blank for "major" on where they want your high school info. Unless things have changed since 1987, I wasn't aware that there were majors in high school.

I was always told to just put "college prep". One application I filled out wanted all schools I attended, and even a middle school GPA (why would that matter?). I've filled out ones that have questions not remotely relevant to what I was applying for.

I've always assumed that the field was there because they use a table, and don't want to make a separate one for high school.

Maybe. But I went to a magnet highschool that had five different "majors." So it is possible to have a major in highschool.

This is crazy. I can't believe Amazon requires THAT much information.

I have to fill it out 3 times. 15 pages, 3 times.

Specifically, what isn't surprising to me is the fact that a company that works on the scale that Amazon doe would have to hire a lot of people for the seasonal shift. To get the orders out in a timely fashion, they'll tell people anything to get them to show up for the interview and quickly weed out any potential whistle blowers by either confounding the hell out of them or stopping them at the gate.

Then what they're left with are desperate employees who will look the other way so long as they get a handful of coal to keep themselves and their family warm through the winter months.
They also want the people who are so beaten down by the process that they blindly sign the arbitration agreements, NDAs, waiver of straight overtime, etc that they put at the end of the 15 page "application".
