  • I must have bad luck with BK

I went to go get my front windows tinted today as summer is fast-approaching, and stopped at a Burger King to get some food. Now, this isn't even in the same COUNTY as the BK I had problems with. Inside was packed, so I went to the drive thru. I ordered my usual, the "problem child" being the Whopper with cheese. She said the total, which sounded cheaper, but it was a different location and prices sometimes differ...I didn't think anything of it. I pull up, pay, and see my receipt. I noticed I was about to get a Whopper JR, not a regular one. I was hungry, I wanted a normal one (and that's what I ordered). I politely pointed out to her that I had ordered a regular one, not a regular one. She sighed, rolled her eyes, and went to let the kitchen know. Then, she comes back and says "That will be $1.28 more". I was surprised, but paid up. When she gave my change back, I said, politely, "Where I work, we don't charge customers for our mistakes", and left it at that. She kind of scoffed at me, but whatever.

She wasn't particularly sucky, just apathetic and not willing to accept responsibility for her mistakes. ALSO...I should note that it appears the order confirmation screen was out of order because my order didn't show up on there. I tried specifically NOT to be sucky, but to express my displeasure in a polite and professional manner. However, it bothers me when establishments charge customers for their mistakes.

I wouldn't have thought anything about paying the extra $1.28 because that's what I would have paid in the first place. She was rude though...

Reminds me of the time I went to McDonalds a few years ago, and asked for large fries with my food. I got medium when they gave me my food, and I said I asked for a large.

Lady replies with... I kid you not... "We don't have large, just small, medium, and extra-large."

I told her that I don't care what you call it, the size above medium is still a large, and if she wasn't sure, she should have pointed that out, rather than assuming. She comped the upgrade then.

I think that lady you ran across should have comped your upgrade.

I don't even bother with BK anymore. They constantly screw up orders, no matter where you are. The last time I went it took them five tries to attempt to give me what I asked for -- a chicken caesar sandwich, large fries, and a large Sprite -- and even then, they never did. First I got a Coke. Handed that back. Then the food bag came. They gave me a regular chicken sandwich and fries. Handed the bag back. Repeated my order. Got back the same chicken sandwich with onion rings. Handed bag back again. Repeated order. Got back a grilled chicken sandwich. Finally, after it appeared they'd gotten it right (and my bad for not checking everything in the bag and assuming what the box said was in it was actually what was in it) and the line behind me was backed up to California or thereabouts, I got the hell out of there and went home. Only to discover I'd gotten a Santa Fe grilled chicken sandwich.

I called the home office to tell them the whole sordid tale, and got sent many coupons for Chicken Whoppers -- something that BK no longer offered.

BK does screw up the orders. This last Sunday, my family and I, had Bk and brought it home so we could watch Wrestlemania 23. My dad does not like the sauce on his burgers, since it makes him sick. What did they do. They put way to much sauce on his. This was after we told them no sauce, and extra everything else. They were skimpy on the everything else, but the sauce. Well he could have swam in it. We took it back to get the right one, and the one that made the burger, came out and accused us of trying to get him fired. I was a SC right after that. But hell, I could not help it.

Once at McDonalds they gave me iced tea instead of coke. It's a horrible experience when you're expecting one drink and get another so completely different that you nearly spit it out in shock. Actually I thought it was just flat, and brought it up to the counter, the girl looked at it and said "This is tea."

Another story, my mother once ordered a coffee at Tim Hortons and the idiot gave it to her in a clear plastic cup, and it melted all over her hand and burned her. I think they gave her free stuff for that, because she could have sued them.

I think you were the rude one. They made a mistake, they fixed it problem solved. I dont think that people should demand things for free over a simple mistake.
Hmm - I didn't see any demanding in there - just noting how it was done elsewhere.

I don't have a problem with the Burger King near me, though I found it funny that no one was able to tell me what the sauce on the B.K. Stacker was. I finally asked, "What does the label on the jar say?" to which he replied, "It just says B.K. Stacker Sauce." It was good, though.

Does anyone here work at a Burger King?

While it's usually McDonald's that screws up my order, BK holds the record for the biggest screwup on one of my orders.

There's one not far from my work, so I went thru the drive-thru, and brought some back to eat at my desk. I ordered the Whopper meal, ketchup only, with a coke.

When I got back to my desk, everything was wrong.

The Whopper had all the crap on it I did not want.
They gave me an iced tea instead of a Coke.
                  They completely forgot my fries.

To their credit, when I called them to tell them what happened, they took down my name to get a free meal next time I was in.

It's always McDonalds with me. I don't eat at Burger King because I find their burgers to be gut wrenching and digusting. Yes, they are bigger than double cheeseburgers at Macdo.....but I can't stand them. I love the fries at McDonalds better as well, and I have yet to receive a flat soda from McDonalds.

I have a horrible problem with McDonalds. I want to keep trying, because I love their food (when it's done the way I want it!), and I have several McDonalds to choose from where I live, so it's not like I'm limited to only one that constantly screws up. All I want is a god damn double cheeseburger with ONLY ketchup on it. I shouldn't have to articulate the words to the employee as if I am speaking to a dumb person. But no, 3 times out of 5 I will end up with No ketchup or Only Onions.........I think they must hire some really stupid people around there.

I hate BK because everytime I go there (which is about once every 6-12 months), I watch them heat the food in the microwave*, and it's freaking COLD when I try to eat it. That and the BK closest to my apartment is ALWAYS out of whopper meat.

*Don't believe me? Watch them sometime. I've had this happen at different BKs in different counties.(MKE, Waukesha, Brown, etc.)

First of all, I said several times that I said it with a very polite tone. Second, I simply said "where I work, we don't charge customers for our mistakes". No accusation, no demanding, simply satating a fact. AND, I left it at that. Rude would have demanding my entire meal be comped.

It should also be noted that I didn't complain, I simply paid up and made the comment.

I only order the chicken sandwiches from Booger Fling--err, Burger King. I am thoroughly underwhelmed with their burgers.

I haven't had any major screwups with my orders at any fast food places in town (knock on wood), since the time I went to Mickey D's, ordered my usual super-sized chicken sandwich value meal, and got a big bag of hamburgers and cheeseburgers instead.

I went to BK once and ordered the veggie burger and they gave me a Whopper. Being a vegetarian, I wouldn't eat the Whopper, so I had to go back and talk to them. The girl was pretty much b*tchy about the whole thing, as if I was trying the be a big problem, but she gave me my veggie burger. I tried to give her the Whopper back (I was in the drive-thru, looking back I should have gone inside, but I didn't think they'd belive me unless I talked to her) and she was all, "no, it was my fault, keep it" in a very flat this-is-what-I-was-told-to-say tone. Odd, as I don't eat them, but oh well. I thing they were about the same price, as no money was exchanged.

The BK closest to my house seems to have issues with the words "no mayo". We don't go there very often. Once every couple of years or so.
