We're also very fast paced. Get the F*** out of the way of the New Jersey people, that's for sure!
Then why is when y'all come to Connecticut and Massachusetts, you get in the left lane and drive 45?!?!? Those bright yellow license plates are a sign to us to pass on the right because NJ drivers just don't get it around here.
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.

A blue Minnesota license plate is all I never need to see to know to get in the other lane and pass ASAP.

It's always a confused tourist going 35 in a 50 mph zone, in the LEFT land, mind you, swerving between lanes because they are trying to read their maps, forgetting at the last second to take their exit, and all of a sudden SLAMMING their brakes at a freshly yellow light 10 feet away from the line.

I'm from California, and I say San Bernardino is the armpit.

Blas, you're right about the snotty people, if you are talking about Wisconsin. Midwesterners have the stereotype of being friendly, neighborly, down-home, but I don't find it to be true. I actually find it to be true of a lot of Californians.
From my experience, I've found midwesterners from the "Heartland" section of the Midwest(Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, etc.) to be VERY friendly and down-to-earth.

All the scared idiots must have left the state to come visit you...those people drive the rest of us crazy. We call them "road blocks." Between the road blocks and the psychopaths (you know, the people who weave at 85+ mph), it's always an interesting drive to work....

Living in the more northern parts, you get very aggressive...and yet defensive on the road... You just have to experience it to really understand it... I live in a crazy state.
I will not shove “it” up my backside. I do not know what “it” is, but in my many years on this earth I have figured out that that particular port hole is best reserved for emergency exit only. -GK

I'm driving to the Dells next weekend.
Hey, you might end up getting gas at my gas station.
            I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

For most of the states around NJ, (PA, CT, NY), NJ prices are cheaper I found in my travels.
Oregon's not the cheapest, but I thought it was funny last weekend when we popped over the border into Vancouver and gas prices were 20 cents more and we had to pump our own gas.

No, no, no. Bakersfield. At least San Bernardino has trees.

Argh. I can't stand people that stand unnecessarily close to me in public places. I usually take a "casual" step back, right onto their feet, if I can, or just kinda shift and throw an elbow their way. This usually makes my point quite clear, without saying anything, and I can always pretend it was an accident.
I have long hair, so I can just flip it into people's faces. If you're close enough to get hit by my hair, you're too damn close.

I miss paying at the pump. Stupid NJ laws. I swear, it would go MUCH faster if people could pump their own gas...
What is up with those laws? Why do they not let people pump their own gas?

That would annoy the heck out of me. I don't have time to wait on someone else to do something for me that I am capable of handling all by myself.

It got to a point where I'd say, "You know, you can pay at the pump..."

and customers would retort with, "But I dunno how" or "I don't trust those" or "Those pumps will steal my identity!"
Actually, there was a rather high-profile report not too long ago about how stations would put the pay at the pump kiosks up and not change the default password. So, anyone with a manual (easily available online) could wander up and get a download of all the credit card information the kiosk took in.

Otherwise, however, those things are no less secure than the system inside, since it all gets stored in the same place.

I have the same fear, and I too make certain I get a receipt, especially now that all the pumps are pre-pay, with signs saying 'Due to the increase in drive-offs...'
There are still places that let you pump before you pay? I haven't seen any of those for at least a decade.

I've never been to a gas station that WOULDN'T let you pump before you paid... maybe Canadians are just more gullible/trusting?

No clue, really. But it's not that slow to be honest. And even if it is, I usually have a magazine on my front seat I can read while I wait. No worries.

I visited my first full-serve station in a rural town in Ontario this weekend. LOVED it! I'd just driven through the wilds of Wisconsin and Michigan, so you can imagine what my windshield and front fender looked like.... the lad not only pumped my gas, but also washed my front and back windows AND scrubbed the front of my car to get the bugs off! If I had been allowed to tip him, he'd have gotten a $10 from me (he said they weren't allowed to accept tips). I'm writing a letter to the owner of the station instead All three of the staffers who were there were VERY nice, extremely helpful, and quite frankly, I've put a star and the name of the gas station on my Ontario road map so that if I'm ever in Espanola again, I can stop there

See, that's what full-serve is supposed to be. But you don't get that nicety here in the good ol' armpit of America. If you want the windows done, you gotta do it yourself while you wait. Only once in a great while have I encountered an attendant who just picked it up and did it.

I think it's perhaps more of a station-by-station thing, and how much the owners emphasize service, etc. I was telling my parents about it and they said they'd never had a full serve attendant wash their windows LOL Chris says he suspects the kid even checked our oil.
