Over a year ago, we lost all our Wendy's locations here in St. Louis due to the franchiser going bankrupt.
We found out last month that Wendy's would be back. The first location to open did so on Sept. 6th. SO and I went and had a really nice meal, even though we had to wait and eat in our car. It was really good. I even wrote a letter on PFB about it, but I think that it was just a little too soon. I decided that since I had to run errands near that location today, I'd go get a meal and a Frosty.
I didn't mind waiting almost an hour in the drive thru line to place my order. I didn't mind waiting to pay for my order. I didn't mind that they made a small mistake - giving me a small Frosty instead of the large that I ordered.
I do mind the way I was treated when I went to try and fix the situation.
See, I ordered a #4, medium fries and a large Frosty. When they tried to tell me that I was getting a large and trying to hand me a small cup I questioned it. I figured I'd better go in and told the cashier that I'd be inside in a few moments to rectify the situation. He said okay and I found a parking space.
The cashier met me at the counter and we went over the order. Sure enough, large Frosty on the ticket, so he goes to get one. Someone else comes up and asks if everything is okay, identifying himself as a manager. I mention that there was a small mistake, but it's being taken care of. He asks what, I mention that I had asked for a large Frosty.
Manager: Oh here, baby *tries to hand me back the small that I'd gotten to begin with*
Me: No, see..*points to the receipt* It says large. Is this really a large? And please, don't call me baby
Manager: Yes it is, sweetie.
Me:Please don't call me that either....*and up comes the cashier with the large Frosty*
Manager: No no no! She doesn't get that, she gets this! *trying to shove the small and now very obviously melting Frosty at me*
Cashier: *confused, walks off*
Me: All I want is to just get the right Frosty. *knowing full well when I was in Kentucky last month I got a large Frosty in the large cup, so this manager is either insane or...something*
Manager: I AM giving you your Frosty. What more do you want, sweetheart?
Me: *sighs inward, then reaches for my purse and gets card that I just charged the meal on* A refund. I am not happy with how this is playing out and I am not happy with how you are treating me.
Manager: How am I treating you, sweetcakes?
Me: *biting my tounge, then sighs, knowing I'm going to have to get a bit SC just to get out of here* You are using terms of endearment that I asked you not to use. Only my husband is allowed to speak to me like that and last time I checked, you are not married to me. So please give me a refund. *holds card out again*
The manager snatches the card from my hand, walks off and gives me a few dirty glances. I finally get my refund, but now the manager thinks he can be funny by holding tight to the card. I very quietly tell him to let go of my card or I will call the police and report him for credit card theft.
As I walk out, he leans over the counter and yells, "That's right you fatass bitch, don't bother coming back. Fucking fat ass!" I walked back to my car and sat down, stunned at what had happened. I have never, ever gotten service like this at any Wendy's I went to in the past. If they forgot something or it wasn't right, it was always corrected without a hassle. The receipt even says large Frosty on it, so I'm not sure what the hell the deal was.
I told SO when I got home that I will not be going back to that location, even though he knows that I love their Frosties.
I think I will be waiting for the other location that is closer to us to open up.
