  • FedEx is "too busy" to deliver a package

On Nov 7, I placed an online order. Some of it ended up being back-ordered, which I can understand. On Dec 17, I received an email stating that it had been shipped via FedEx and giving me a tracking number. Just for the heck of it (and wondering where my package might be), I looked it up today.

It has been "On FedEx vehicle for delivery" since Thursday the 20th (Today is Mon the 24th). This means it was supposed to be delivered Thursday...no, Friday...no, Saturday...no, today...no, maybe on Wednesday...(DH phoned FedEx and was told "maybe Wednesday").

Each day shows "no attempt made, delivery scheduled for next business day."

Um, gee, guys...I understand that you have a lot to do, but shouldn't you deliver the old stuff first before loading more stuff on the trucks? Maybe take off all the old stuff and put it on a single special delivery truck to be sure it gets done?

I've already emailed the company and asked them to consider another carrier. I am not being charged delivery for this batch, but I know that they sure are paying for it, and probably would rather not pay for services not rendered.

I like the company from which I ordered. I just do not appreciate how FedEx is handling the (lack of) shipping.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Um, uh oh. You aren't going to like what I'm about to tell you. Call FedEx and ask if they know where the package is. I get the deep in my gut, oh crap you're not going to be happy sort of feeling that FedEx lost your package.

Our company gets the same thing with UPS. The website will show "exception" and that no delivery attempt was made. I call them to find out what's going on and they tell me the delightful news: 1) They will have to put a tracer on the package which can take 8-10 working days 2) UPS insures for $100.00 only (unless additional insurance is purchased). So that $800.00 order we just shipped means we will be eating a loss if UPS can't find the package.

Good luck with it. I hope that's not the case, but I have a bad feeling...

Oh boy. Supposedly, the package is still on the truck, which has not yet gotten back to the warehouse tonight. I'm not going to raise he|| until Wednesday or Thursday, but after that, if you hear about a huge explosion in central Texas, it was me, going off on FedEx.

I was told that UPS drivers were supposed to attempt to deliver every package on their vehicle at least once a day. I assumed FedEx did too. So it does sound like someone has lost a package.

We got a package for someone two streets over with the same number house.

Think that's bad, I bought a couple of items from an eBay seller several years ago (two vintage Sunbeam mixers that had been handpainted with a beautiful rose pattern.)

I had done transactions with this seller before with no issues. We ran into a problem with one of the mixers though.

We never received the 2nd mixer . . . the first one arrived in excellent condition via FedEx. Second one, I emailed the seller letting her know that the 2nd package had not arrived and could I have the tracking number to trace it down with.

She emailed the next day saying that she had traced it and it showed that delivery had been refused, which confused her as much as it did me when I read her reply. So now we're both confused . . .how could I refuse delivery if it had not been delivered???

A couple of days later, she received the mixer back . . . . it was broken in several places and couldn't be repaired.

Luckily she had another mixer on hand and asked if that would be suitable replacement. It would just take her a couple of weeks to paint it . . which was fine with me.

The 2nd mixer was supposed to have been a pretty jade green with pink cabbage roses (the first one is pink with the cabbage roses) and she graciously offered to do the same color or a different one.

I checked with Mom and let her know what had happened and asked what color she wanted the 2nd mixer in. Mom decided she wanted it in pink like the first one.

So about a month later, the new one arrived with no problem . . . so we have 2 pink mixers on display (and several other pieces that were handpainted by this same lady.)

I suspect what happened with that one that was broken was that it was damaged in transit and the driver instead of attempting to deliver, just marked it as refused and sent it back to the seller.

But in the end everything turned out okay and we still buy stuff on occasion from this seller.

I seem to hear of so many people having problems with FedEx. Surprisingly we haven't had a problem with them... Yet anyway. I order some things for my cat through a catalog and they use FedEx. I was amazed that they delivered my stuff on Saturday even though I never paid for Saturday delivery.

I'm just dreading a day if I have to go to the UPS facility to pick up a package. Around here it's off of a dirt road in the middle of nowhere.

When we lived in Virginia, however, we couldn't trust any delivery carrier. DHL would leave packages right on the doorstep, not in the office as they were requested to do (one of these packages was from Apple Computers... Good thing there wasn't a laptop inside), UPS would leave packages with random neighbors, and Fed Ex always required signatures for some reason. We eventually had it so any packages that were delivered via courier services were delivered to where my bf worked at the time. Then at least the receptionist could sign for the packages and watch them for the day.

What I really hate about FedEx is their sorting proceedures. They send packages to another city, sometimes in another state, to sort them, then send them back to the original state to deliver.

Case in point, IT guy sends out a package standard overnight. Apparently, the midwest was suffering "terrible weather" - yeah, so a partly sunny day over most of Missouri and Illinois is terrible weather and somehow, partly sunny affects the sorting facility in Tenessee; somehow this doesn't make any sort of sense at all. I would hate to see what they consider to be good weather - so the overnight package was delayed by 2 days. All for a package that was supposed to be sent to a city that was 30 minutes away. I could have driven to the address and been back in an hour. But we pay these people to deliver our packages.

I ended up calling and venting to our account rep. I even made the point that what if it had been a multi-million dollar contract that we lost because of their negligence. She agreed, but had to use the "we have 99.8% satisfaction" yeah, okay. So what about the .02%? I guess they just deal with it.
              Random conversation:
Me: Okay..so I think I get why Zoro wears a bandana
              DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

Stories like that are *exactly* why my employer no longer uses FedUp. My boss simply got tired of the shipping delays. What was the point of paying for "next day" service, if it took 2 days to deliver?

Oh, and then there's this: Shortly after I started working there, I was asked to ship a laptop out to my boss, who was vacationing out in California. I had it boxed up by the local Mailboxes Etc. store, and off it went. Imagine his surprise when it didn't show up...even though FedUp said it was delivered. I dealt with our account rep, his boss...and was about to file a theft claim (good thing it was insured...), until the truth came out.

Turns out the driver simply didn't "feel like" delivering it...and the damn thing was still sitting in his truck! Not only did he lose his job, but our entire company told Fedup to "go fuck themselves" and switched to DHL

I called FedHexed this morning to verify if the package was actually on the truck or not. The CSR checked the tracking, and indicated that she would start a trace on the m.i.a. package.
Guess what just got delivered? And the driver looked none too happy.... He was probably told not to come back to the warehouse unless and until that package was delivered!

I absolutely hate FedEx. FedEx ground will not deliver or pick up in my area unless it's a friday and there have been times they will tell people they have to wait until they have a second pickup/drop as well.
Now FedEx air will come up whenever they have a delivery and luckily they are the service that delivers my meds which have to remain refrigerated.

UPS is the way to go.

I had an experience yesterday with a very rude UPS guy. Our normal guy that comes to the store is great. VERY friendly, and very helpful with anything that we need. He must have been off yesterday because this guy who looked like he just got his drivers license yesterday (Im getting older so now everyone looks younger )

Now just for some info...UPS comes twice a day every day...once in the morning to deliver packages to us, and once in the afternoon to pick up packages that we are sending out. I took the driver over to the delivery station and gave him the shipping book and packages. I also pointed out that we wanted to have a signature required for picking up one of the packages, and the following conversation occured:

                      Driver: Why? Whats in it?
Me: I dont know (I did know but didnt feel that he needed to know)
Driver: Well I need to know the exact contents or I cant deliver it. Open the package so I can see what it is.
Me: Im sorry but I cant open the package once its been sealed.
Driver: Well we dont do signed deliveries unless all drivers in the process of delivering yoru package know whats in it
Me: Ok then tell me what was in the packages I signed for this morning (he was the same guy who delivered them)
                      Driver: It was winter parkas
Me: Sorry...it wasnt....we sell underwear, not coats.......and its the wrong season to be receiving coats...we would be getting in spring lines now..we are trying to sell out of the winter line....
Driver: Well...I will have to check with my boss about this (grabs packages and shipping log and walks out)

I called UPS and asked about it today...and said that if that was the policy then I may have to switch to another delivery company or use the US postal service. They said they would have a talk with the driver about the proper policy and procedures.

i used to work for fedex, so i'm really getting a kick out of these replies....

i don't mind any type of carrier just as long as their consistent with their schedules. We have it set to where they're supposed to do pickups 4pm or later. Some days the UPS guy will pick up as early as 2.30 and not come back.

The front desk tells me that the driver has become pissy since we don't let him go to the back of the office and get free cokes anymore.

some of this seems so odd to me . . .
My parents have a house that is in a nicer part of town . . .on occassion we have had deliveries made by drivers in Pick-up Trucks.
Me personally I live on a corner house and used to do a lot on E-bay. That was when I had a great post man and UPS driver in my area. My house is on the corner of a street that gets a lot of traffic. If I had a package they would go into my back yard and place it on a table . . .and put a note in my mail box to say it was there.
Now I am lucky if my packages are there when I get home. They get left on my front porch and sometimes to be nice they put the door mat on top . . .well gee cardboard turns to mush when wet. . do don't do that if the mat is wet
let alone if it is pouring rain and my porch is flooded. . .
ok I will jump off my soapbox

I haven't had a problem with FedEx delivering items, I just have a problem with their prices.

I went into the local FedEx Kinkos to deliver a radio I sold to a guy in Canada. I looked up the price to ship it and it said something like 15 dollars. Ok, that's what I figured when I added the shipping charge in to the guy's final price. Lo and behold, it was 60 freakin dollars because I was using a FedEx box. WTF! Does anyone know the difference between using some box I could have found at the grocery store, compared to using one that is emblazoned with "FEDEX" on the side? If it would have been shipped within the US, I wouldn't have had a problem with finding a random box and shipping it that way. With it going out of the country, I wanted to make sure it was packaged right and would get there.

                            25 dollar scanner + 15 (supposed) shipping costs - 60 dollars (actual) = 20 dollar loss.

I tried emailing the company to voice my frustrations but got nowhere on it. I don't ship very many items and don't keep boxes laying around just to ship stuff in.
Answers are easy...it is asking the right questions which is hard.

Well, me recent little problem was precipitated by UPS.

I ordered some things from CafePress for Christmas. I placed my order on 4 Dec, CafePress said to expect it sometime between the 13th and the 17th. They use UPS Innovations, it's some partnership between UPS and USPS. Well, on the 9th, I checked up on it. According to the tracking information, USPS had been told to expect the package. I didn't get it and didn't get it. E-mailed CafePress (twice, since they apparently didn't feel like responding to my first one!), they're sending out a replacement order. (They did do something cool, though. They said if the original order showed up, I could just keep them both.)

Fine and dandy, but the whole order was for Christmas presents. And left town on the 21st. Well, I got home yesterday, and guess what showed up in the mail on the 21st, after I left!?

So there was some breakdown in UPSs updating of their tracking information. I've had problems with FedEx and UPS, but never USPS or Royal Mail!
It's floating wicker propelled by fire!
