It is cool. The main game has 2 decks and there are expansions of 2 more decks so the game is for 2-4 players. The rules are written ... interestingly. Apparently, the company is Italian and so the rules were originally in Italian but then translated to English when it came here. Some of the wording is hilarious. Like, "... the rules exposed below ..."

Another good party game is Guillotine (which can go really quickly so in 30 minutes you could play at least 5-10 games). Also, there's Red Dragon Inn (2-4 player game with an expansion coming this summer for 4 new characters and that can be played alone or played with the original game). Red Dragon Inn is what happens after the D&D adventure is over and the adventurers are resting up for the next adventure.

Also, for a non-RPG type card game, there is the ol' stand-by of Apples to Apples & can be made into a great drinking game. (I don't know anything about that at all. ). LOL Just some more suggestions.

Oh yeah, Broomjockey - the fight was over people stealing cards. Which is not nice.
Guillotine and Apples to Apples are, both, a staple to the gaming party. Though I've never played the drinking game....

I played M:tg for awhile myself, I was attempting to acquire a sliver deck, back when tempest was the most recent set. buddy was trying to make a deck with those mind parasites.

I found and played a Rifts CCG, even bot about 3 boxes of boosters for it... course it was out of print, so i wanted to try and get enough cards to play with.
Shame only me and my friend had any cards to play with.

Is there a way to check total elapsed playtime on all characters, or only for one at a time?

            ^-.-^
You have to add all the play time of your characters one by one... it kinda sucks.

Scrye is a good magazine that has all the prices for Magic cards from the beginning, and you can use it to check prices for other cards.

If you tell me which expansion Black Lotus is in, I can look it up on Saturday and see what we're selling it for.

Black Lotus was only printed in Alpha, Beta, and Unlimited I think. Average going price AFAIK is $350+ US.

A Grade 10 Black Lotus sold at auction a while back for $20,000. Was purchased by the guy who also owns the original artwork piece for the card.
                  Dealer hits... 21. Table loses.

This happens more often than most people want to believe.

If the Black Lotus is going around $350 and we had it, it'd be in one of the glass cases with the rest of the special CCG stuff.

I just don't understand spending so much for a card.

I think the flavor text on Lotus Petal said it all.

Well, I'ld be willing to sell most of my collection. The goblin deck and the giant fan deck stay with me, and the sliver deck would probably cost you more than it's worth, but the rest are up for grabs.

Heh. Way back in 1994, I attended Origins in San Jose.

One evening we had what we referred to as The First Annual Magic: The Gathering Sacrifice and Barbecue. Basically, we'd gotten a cheap little barbecue as a freebie for filling out the paperwork to try to get a credit card, and we wanted to have poke some fun at the hardcore M:tG fanbois.

One of the people who came to the park for the little event tossed in one of his cards. Yup, it was a Black Lotus.

Do you know how hard it is to get a Magic card to catch fire?

Another time, at the local convention, a friend of ours had been in a Magic tournament earlier that day, which he subsequently won. His secret? He had been having a hard round early on in the tournament, with several high-level potentially round-winning cards being countered or otherwise taken out of play almost immediately by his opponent. So, when he was able to play his Shivan Dragon (a fairly bad-ass card at the time), he thought he finally had the round sewn up, but the other player, once again, played something to remove the dragon from play on the very next turn. So, in a fit of pique, he ate the card.

Yup, he stuffed it in his mouth, chewed it up, and swallowed it.

The other player was so aghast that he'd do such a thing to his cards, that he wouldn't take out any of his high-level cards and the friend was finally able to win the round. Word got out about the episode, and the other tournament players were also so afraid that he'd eat another high-value card that they, too, ended up letting him pretty much walk all over them.

                            ^-.-^

I recently sold a whack of cards for about $200. The box with the REAL money in it (no Loti or Moxen, but loads of other good stuff) has inexplicably gone missing...the weird thing is, both my mom and I saw it in the house a few years ago; she knew what was in it and would never do anything with my old cards without me okaying it. Both boxes were always together, and I've found the lesser-value one

I'd not mind selling off all my cards. I don't think I have anything before 4th, or after tempest, though. And I don't think anywhere would take all of them. I've got some good ones buried there there though. Even though some of my better ones went "missing." Including at least one Serra Angel.
