It is (or was) the Rotor at The Great Escape park in Upstate NY, too. I never went on that version of it either. The diagram the OP drew, though, more accurately depicts the Gravitron at the county fair.
Local grade school rumor about the Rotor was that some kid puked while riding it, but couldn't turn their head and ended up suffocating on the stuff. Ick.

The kind of ride that you described was called "The Rotor" at Hersheypark. They tore it down a long time ago. It would be like a round house that you went inside & stood against the walls. It would start spinning and as it did you would stick to the walls by centrifigal force. Then after a few seconds the floor would drop down.
Many times after the ride was over that somebody would stumble out of it puking their guts out. It used to be my favorite ride.

concider the pressure the centrifical force puts on even me (i have a hard time breathing on that thing, due to the pressure it exerts on my chest) why would you even think about, i sure that baby would be severly injured

as a father of a 8 month old and a 27 month old i am disgusted at that woman
That would have killed the child more than likely, whilst the soft bones and tissue can take some knocks (small falls etc when toddling) large or sustained shocks can seriously injure and even kill small children.
The most likely effect would be neck injury as teh head is teh heavyest part of a child that small and the strain on the neck is already quite alot in a sense...so if under a few g's it is likely to fail to support the head and when that happens there will be nothing to fall back on as the whole ride experience is under 3g's or whatever it is so sustained force....soft bones....heavy weight
NOT GOOD

What? That's a great ride!
But for kiddies, not so much. (Also makes a crappy Physics test problem but that's another story). I don't understand why anyone would even think they could take a baby on any ride like that. THEY HAVE FREAKING "YOU MUST BE THIS TALL TO RIDE" signs for a reason, because if you are smaller than that it's not safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same here! Kennywood had a similar ride called the Rotor. The floor dropped down, leaving you hanging in mid air as it spun around. YEEEEHAH!Quoth Gerrinson View PostWell, I have to put in my two cents simply because I love that ride.
As for the lady wanting to bring a baby on a ride like that,
The forces in that ride would be murder on a child, and it would likely scare the hell out of him anyway. So yeah lady, I'd say you did waste your money, and hopefully it's a lesson to you!

But what kind of moron would try to take a baby on ANY type of adult carnival ride? The only rides I've seen that allow babies are the really tame ones like the train ride that only goes along at ground level... in a circle... at about 2 miles an hour.

Nice example of attempted child abuse there.
I've been one one of these rides once.. all it did was give me a pretty bad headache.
Never Again.

Ah yes, the Whirl N' Puke. I believe that one ride is responsible for me losing interest in any and all carnival rides.
Rode it once, puked like I never puked before, and never went back.

Sure you can take your baby on this ride. You just have to sign this waiver and when you get off have a nice long chat with Child protective services and the state troopers we have over here. They will consider it the same as SHAKING your baby you nit wit!
I hate how government is trying more and more to micromanage OUR lives and it's because of stupid people like her that are causing it. She is also the reason why having kids needs a license.

Oh, the Gravitron!
Yeah, never been on it. I'm in the "pukey death" camp, only got there after listening to a friend share a story about puking all over herself during the ride. ::twitch:: Teacups are a bad enough problem for me.
And yet I can handle the Scrambler just fine. Go figure.

I actually quite like that ride... Trying to do situps or leg lifts at 2 g's or whatever force that's at is pretty cool.
...but then I'm a little odd, I guess.
I can just imagine what would happen to the kid after a few minutes of sustained force, though... Poor thing would come out almost as dumb as his momma. Or maybe not... something about body mass affects that. huh. Now I want to go find out. Someone get me a toddler and a centrifuge, stat!
In reality, though, I think he'd just fall between the seats and get crushed in the mechanism, OR, if Momma tried to hold him, he'd crush her ribcage. Which wouldn't be a bad thing, entirely. I'm kinda in favor of ironic self-termination. And he'd be too young to remember the reverse chestburster he pulled on his mother, so no pesky trauma!

Went on that thing once. Never again
Mind you I didn't get sick, but still. Never ever again.

My dog... even I hate that ride! My little cousin would go on this ride every year and every year he'd get off it and promptly throw up on it! Ew! I'm amazed they never banned him from the carnival for that.
