  • Ignored by a cashier, who in turn gets pwned.

So I went to Lowe's to return something today--still in the package, hadn't opened it, just wanted to exchange it because it was the wrong color. Had my receipt in my hand as well. I walk into the little return area and wait, as Idiot Boy (as I have dubbed the returns cashier) is doing someone else's return, which happens to be two large pieces of wood on a cart.

He finishes, wood guy leaves, Idiot Boy looks straight at me, says, "Hold on, let me get these out of the way." As he's pushing the wood aside, another man walks up on down the counter, waiting in line behind me. So what does Idiot Boy do when he's done with the wood? Looks at me, then walks down the counter and asks the man behind me, "How can I help you?"

And the other guy, who is a wonderful human being, replied in the best you're-fucking-stupid voice possible, "Uh, little slow today? You can start by helping the girl that was in front of me."
    Would you like a Stummies?

Love it! I hate cashiers who allow people to cut in line.

Yes, cashiers who allow this, it's partially your fault for not saying "Um, they were here first."

I was at my local grocery store deli. I go to this store all the time, but this was the first time I'd been at the deli, so I didn't know/notice that they had a number system, so I hadn't grabbed a number. I realized my mistake after several minutes and got one, after at least one other person who had come after me had grabbed their numbers. I was fully expecting to go after these people as I was ignorant and hadn't grabbed a number, so my loss, my own fault.

But the next lady in line had seen me there first and so when her number was called, she directed the deli person to serve me first as I was there first. Very nice lady, and unexpected.

What is it with some people that they can't handle that a woman, unaccompanied, is in a hardware type store. And know what she's looking for and how to use it?

Usually, it's not their fault at all. A lot of the cashiers here on CS talk about how they're not allowed to say anything.

Not mention that people like that are the first to go complain about it to a manger about how "rude" the cashier was.

I don't like to hop on the sexist conspiracy theory wagon, but unfortunately, there are still some people out there who don't think women should be messing with automobiles or anything involving hardware and tools.

If I go alone to an auto parts store, I usually get dirty looks. If I'm with Dad or bf....no dirty looks.

Slipped my mind ... excellent point. OK, I blame corporate policies then! Cashiers should be allowed to enforce simple rules like lines.

                        -------------

Regarding women and hardware stores ... there's nothing wrong at all with women getting some hardware, maybe getting dirty and working up a sweat ... needing a shower. Nothing wrong with that at all!

There are just a lot of stupid people in the world who think we should all be shoved into little cubby holes and not venture out. If women want to do hardware stuff, cool.
