Last year, I bought a little sign that read "The Witch is In/Out" and kept it permanently flipped to "In".

My dad has told me the story of an encounter with a JW when he was in college. He was at his friends house, studying. This friend of my dad's basically knew the Bible backwards and forwards. So, they were studying, and there was a knock at the door My dad's friend (I'll call him DF) answered the door, and, after a minute, motioned for my dad to stay out of sight, but move where he could hear what was going on.

The JW was a fairly attractive girl, so DF decided to listen to her spiel for a few minutes. As she went into her speech, she quoted a certain Bible verse. DF listened for a sec, then told her, "Yes, that's true, but it goes on to say..." and would contiue the quote, totally undermining her point This went on over and over, JW would say, "Well, it says in verse X that..." to which DF would reply, "Yes, but the 4 previous verses say....", etc.

After about 20 minutes of this, the JW said to DF, "Well, looks like I'm not going to convert you today, am I?" DF replied, "Nope, but, am I going to convert you?"

I love it when you can beat them at their own game.

Only if they're asking for money

Not true. Any time an apartment complex I happen to work at (or the one I ran) has a posted "no soliciting" sign that 100% includes everyone, even religions. Whenever I would get a group on the property (or when a resident would complain) I would nicely explain that soliciting wasn't tolerated on the property, and any resident, at any time could call the police on them and have them removed.

For about 3 Saturday mornings in a row I got different groups of JW's knocking on my door asking if anyone in the home spoke Spanish. When I said no, they asked about next door. I said no, but if they could speak East Coast, they were welcome to try since my neighbor was from New Jersey.

While I can appreciate the vent about pushy people -- religious or otherwise, this whole thread is too close to religion-bashing for my taste. Fratching would be a better place for it.
