  • Guy talking on his cell phone in the bathroom

This is one of my pet peeves, people talking on their cellphones while in the bathroom and I've noticed they always try their hardest to hide the fact.

This happened to me today but luckily I had to only do #1 and they were in a stall.

But he was talking loudly and annoyingly so I decided that since he is being like this, I am going to have no sympathy.

First, I made as much noise as possible while doing #1. No, I didn't hit the back of the urinal, I hit the little resovior of water in the bottom. I made sure it flushed, too.

Then, I washed my hands, taking my time. I need to make sure they're clean you know!

I also made sure I used the air dryer, not the paper towels. Oh shucks, one round didn't dry them.

To top it all off, I felt some pressure building inside of me and with the dryer near his stall, I turned around (to head out), let a loud one rip, then walk out of the bathroom.

Yeah, I'm a jack@$$ for doing this but I really hate it when people talk on the phone in the bathroom.

I am sorry it upsets you so much. Could you tell us why?

That's what I was wondering. I mean, the bathroom is where you do your business, and then you leave. It's not as if you're taking up residence there. I cannot count the number of times I've been in the bathroom and people in there are talking to each other, let alone talking on a phone.

Are you one of those people who gets irritated at rest areas, or Disney World where a lot of people go in and talk?

I don't know why it bothers me, maybe because they're just chatting away loudly in the bathroom on their cell phones, not even someone else in there.

While I find it always funny that people would talk on their phone while dropping a massive dook, at least he wasn't driving in a car or at the front of a checkout line being checked out

It bothers me not so much because it's irritating to me while using the bathroom that somebody is talking, but because I empathise with the person they're calling.

Nobody wants to be called from there. Nobody. Nobody needs to hear other people doing their business in the background.

It's a sucky thing to do to the callee, not the other bathroom inhabitants, and that's why it bothers me.

This reminds me of an embarrassing incident. I had gone into the public restroom at work one day and as soon as I sat down the woman in the stall next to me said, "Hello?"

At bit perplexed but thinking perhaps her stall was out of toilet paper or something I replied, "Hello."

She didn't respond immediately but a few seconds later it became clear that she was on her cell.

I don't really get bothered by people talking on their cellphones in the restroom but I do have a problem with people who want to chat while they and/or I am doing my business. I once had a customer do that to me and I wanted to tell her to STFU!

I've had people actually yell at me for using the bathroom because they're on their phone. I'll be chatting with a friend and they go apeshit on me. Y'know, "BE QUIET! I'M ON THE PHONE!" And in a noisy restroom no less.

Why they have to yak it up in a restroom is beyond me...

I'm one of those that doesn't think the bathroom stall is a good place for a cell convo. The accoustics are all wrong, there's suspect background noises, and it's rather intrusive.

I find I object to people using the phone in the bathroom because it tells you that to them there is no place that it is not appropriate to use the phone , so they are the ones that would have a coversation in the middle of checking out and wonder why the cashier was upset with them.

I also dislike people using the a cell phone in a public bathroom. A bathroom to me is a rather private place. I am aware that a public bathroom is just that, public. By using a public bathroom you are choosing to share that privacy with others who need to make use of that bathroom. However; I don't feel I am also agreeing to share that privacy with whoever they feel like talking on the phone with. To me it feels as intrusive as leaving a giant door open for the entire rest of the world to look in through.

Never had one yell at me while they were using the phone in the bathroom, but I did have one mention to the person they were talking to "I'ts kinda noisy in here." Yeah a room with tiles from floor to ceiling dosen't have the best acoustics.

The bathroom is the one room here in the Hovel that I will *NOT* use a phone. If it rings when I'm in there, the machine will get it. If I'm talking and nature yells, I'll cal back.

                            Nobody needs to hear that.

I hate using my cellphone in any public area, really. If I must make or take a call while in a restaurant or other store, I will almost always go outside first. That being said, in the dead of winter in northeast PA, I will sometimes hold a -short- conversation in an otherwise unoccupied restroom.
