I refuse to go back to walking with a cane until the only other option is to fall on my ass.
Get a cane. You can be House for Halloween.

I would, but my family won't let me. *pouts*

now all i can think of is House teasing/accusing Cameron of being insensitive when she brought a bunch of candy canes into the office.

and ... if his back and hips are bad...he can still *storm* out eh?

reminds me of the little shit i saw leaving blockbuster the other day. perfectly healthy - just looked like he was 12 years old - and parked between the handicapped spaces. lazy f***

I've accidentally tossed one or two dry-clean-only items in the washer, and never had any real damage done to them.
I've had dry-clean-only ties nearly dissolve when tossed into a washer. But who makes blankets out of silk, for crying out loud?

I dunno about blankets, but maybe they were actually sheets? Silk and satin sheets are quite definitely a real thing, and generally put down by people who are either
hedonistic or trying to be pretentious.

Added an update to the OP.

Also, the blanket that fell apart seemed to be some sort of synthetic material, not silk.

And silk sheets are very slippery.

Now exiting my stream of consciousness.

I know the one dress I accidentally tossed in the washer was dry-clean-only, but not silk. Not sure what it was, though I suspect synthetic. It was fairly inexpensive.

Nearly dissolve, huh? What did they look like when they were done?

And I seriously wonder who makes blankets out of something that expensive. Blankets should be machine-washable, for convenience's sake, if you ask me. (Though I'm very careful with Baby's crocheted afghans that she was gifted. I don't know how well those would hold up to the machine, so I try to make sure they don't get dirty in the first place.)

Try some knee exercises. I was having major trouble with my right knee in July (couldn't climb stairs easily, had to be careful trying to stand up after kneeling on the floor, and just general pangs of pain after long walks with Baby), and found out in August that it was because a rarely-exercised muscle just above the kneecap was getting weak. The physical therapist gave me a couple of exercises to do with 2.5 lb ankle weights on to strengthen the muscle back up. It's done wonders. PM me if you want a run-down of the exercises.

My knees get quite a bit of exercise - I'm up and down 3 flights of stairs 10+ times per day & I walk nearly 2 miles each day just to get from employing parking to work and then back out to my car. The problem is due to my knees being a bit deformed, particularly my right knee. The bones don't sit properly and pull at all of the connective tissue as I move. Said tissue gets inflamed and swells, pushing the bones further out of alignment so they pull more at the tissue...

Well, you can see where that goes. What I really need is TKR, but so far my HMO says it is not medically necessary because I'll have the same level of functionality when all is said and done. They don't much care if I live and work in pain, so long as I live and work. -.-

Ah. I understand. I take it knee braces don't help?

And yeah, gotta love those insurance companies that won't pay for it until it gets out of control and extra expensive. /sarcasm
