I was in line at the bank yesterday to take care of a few things for work. It's a long weekend here in Ontario, so the bank was busy. I was on the clock so I wasn't in any hurry. I was drinking complimentary coffee and chatting with others in line. It was a nice break from SCs.
Then the guy at the teller in front of me harshed my mellow.
He was trying to get in to see a personal banking officer to get a car loan. I wasn't trying to listen in, but this guy was LOUD. He didn't have an appointment, and he refused to make one for early next week, and he refused to wait 15 minutes for someone to return from lunch.
The poor teller was trying to explain to him that you can't just waltz into a bank and expect that someone will be available that very second to give him a loan. There's tons of paperwork involved, and you need to set an appointment. He was lucky there was a cancellation or he wouldn't even have the option of waiting the mere 15 minutes to see someone.
The guy becomes irate and starts yelling about how he needs this car NOW, and it's incredibly inconvenient to wait, and it's ridiculous, rabble rabble rabble.
Who organizes their life like this? This was a well-dressed man in his mid-50's. Surely he's been around long enough to understand that things just don't work like that. You set up the financing, THEN you get the car. Unless you have cash at the ready, you can't buy a car like you would a carton of milk.
Finally the SC stalked off to wait in the seating area. I had the same teller, and he seemed unperturbed. He just rolled his eyes and chuckled when I commented on it.
