Me and sonme friends went out for a meal last night. Peri-peri chicken, lovely!
We sat and watched in some amazement as a family of three - dad, mum and teenage daughter, sat down and teenage daughter put her lap top on the table, set up a mouse and proceeeded to play The Sims throughout their meal.

Damn... I like my video games as much as the next guy...but I'm nowhere near that bad. The only time I'd ever take a laptop to a restaurant...would be if I had work to do.

There have been meals with family members I don't like very much where I've been tempted to do that or turn on the mp3 player or read the book in my purse. I never actually did it because I have a sneaking suspicon I would've been told to walk home.

Sometimes I bring my Nintendo DS with me when going places, and this includes restaraunts. However, I don't play it the whole time! And even gamers like myself enjoy getting out of the house every so often to enjoy non-gaming activities...

I take my DS with me, too (Damned Wi-fi! I want a friend-code, dammit!). And since i keep Tetris with me....Mom's generally the one playing my DS by the end of the night.

As much as I love hanging out on my laptop, I'm not about to take it out to dinner.

If she loves her laptop so much why doesn't she marry it?

And for me, I'll usually take my iPod or a book if I'm going somewhere where I'll get bored easily. Laptop only comes along if I need to finish something for uni.

I expect there are a plethora of USB devices to fill that need.

I would never do that with other people around, unless it was a starbucks or the library. My parents are old school and no way would that happen around them.

I am well-known for my passionate hatred of The Sims. Why?

Because when I was in college, and desperately trying to reach out to other people, I would ask my Sims-addicted roommates if they wanted to hang out that evening, get coffee or whatever. They'd happily agreed, and spend the entire damn night playing that stupid game. I have really low self-esteem as it is, and being passed over in favor of little unintelligible computer-generated people really did not help that...Grrrr. Stupid Sims.

                        I can't understand The Sims...

my laptop only comes with me to work if i have a 3+ hour wait ahead of me after work. (My roommate and I work at the same location, just different companies and different hours.)

When I was a kid and Sim City was popular, I could play that game for hours....sometimes baby brother and I would play Mario and Duck Hunt all night long on weekends.....

But nowadays I pretty much hate games. I played one of the first versions of The Sims probably about 10 years ago or so and it just irritated me.
