  • EW Mom, only without the E (Warning, NSFW!)

A few years ago, in the small town I grew up in, a sick POS pedophile was charged with having a sexual relationship with a 12 year old girl. Only a day after the criminal charges were filed, the girl's mom went to an attorney (who happened to be a friend of my older brother). She told him she wanted to file civil charges and sue the guy for all he was worth (he had wealthy parents, and was a business owner as well).

Needless to say, the attorney was ecstatic at the prospect. The woman even gave him a videotape, which she said was of the POS taping himself having sex with her daughter.

The attorney took the tape home to review, and yes indeed, it was the accused man having sex with the 12 year old girl as well as a threesome with. . .

    . . . the girl's MOTHER!!!!!!!

Yes, friends, the same woman who gave the attorney the videotape for evidence.

The attorney called the woman, and told her to come by his office. When she did, he threw the tape at her and told her never to set foot in his office again. She had no clue what the problem was!!

Yes, that’s right. It’s a pair of gold foil headphones. Gold foil. Finally, headphones just as awful as your taste in music.

I'm surprised the mother wasn't charged. But of course, we can't let little girls grow up without a MOTHER now can we?

Shouldn't she also have been arrested for contributing to the crime?

Yeah this works well for this sick story.

wtf? That attorney should have called the cops and had her arrested. He had the evidence right then and there.

That tape is prolly destroyed by now.

Actually, I don't think he can. It falls under "attorney-client privilege", and as such, not only is the attorney not required to report it, but I think it's a serious violation of professional ethics for him to do so. I know, that sounds crazy, but the way the US justice system is set up, defense attorneys have to be protected from having to report evidence so the integrity of the system can be upheld. Otherwise, no attorney would defend someone they thought was guilty, which violates the Constitutional right to counsel.

I'm not sure if that applies, at least in Australia patient confidentiality is overridden by child abuse, I think client confidentiality is.

I may be wrong however, but I do know that I am required to report suspected child abuse if I see it while practicing.

Heh, in many cultures (the Middle East springs to mind) 12, is a perfectly good age to be a wife. Fortunately I'm not from that region.

I just think it's wrong for a client/attorney privilage to override a child molestation case. This is a child for crying out loud and he/she does not deserved to be abused.

Same for Priests who deals with confessions who admits molesting a child. That needs to be reported, ASAP.

My heart just broke a little, and my faith in humanity just died a little more.

Back around the time I came back from Israel, 'round about five years ago, my step sister (then 29) was dating a 19 year old guy. He got her hooked on drugs, and then proceeded to rape my the 11 year old neice. When my neice tried to tell her mother what had happened, instead of kicking the POS boyfriend out and having him arrested, she said my neice had SEDUCED him!

My neice went to the school and they took care of things, but she still has lots of issues. My step sister's been disowned, my father and his wife don't even talk about her. The POS boyfriend is in jail.

Stuff like this makes me want to cry and use copious amounts of
