I am not a fond fan of UPS. Honestly, I could do without them, but since we have a national contract with them, I have no choice but to use them at work.
Yesterday a package was supposed to go to our supply office on another floor, but for some reason whoever was supposed to man the door didn't answer. So the person who was to receive the package bitched to UPS rather than just let me call the driver and ask him what happened. This started a chain reaction which somehow ended up with the hub manager saying that the driver was not allowed to read me the names of the packages being dropped off; I still don't know how it got to that point, as it wasn't even part of the problem.
Yes, you read that right. He's not allowed to read me the names. He is supposed to drop them off and move on to his next stop.
I called the hub manager who didn't care in the least that all the drivers we'd been doing this with for the past 5 plus years did it without an issue because I was tied to the front desk. It didn't matter that I would have to leave where I sat to go and check the packages to see who they belonged to and leave the phone unattended. I was inconviencing the driver by making a demand. I should let him do his job.
So I've told the driver that he can just drop the packages and if it's something for another suite, I'll just call and let them know. Because you see, once I sign for however many packages, no matter if they aren't ours, I'm accepting that they are indeed ours (I really like this logic).
The thing that irritated me the most was the hub manager telling me I didn't know how to do my job by daring to make the UPS driver do something that wasn't in his job description. I guess doing his job and making sure the packages get to where they belong isn't in his job description anymore.

Whenever we get a shipment of books (usually around 10 boxes) he likes to randomly pile them by the door. I've asked him to not do it and he completely ignores me when I ask!! Today he tried to pull that sh*t with my boss. He was literally THROWING the boxes on the ground. My boss asked, "Please don't do that." Ignored. Then my boss YELLED at him "stop throwing my f*cking boxes!!!" and he actually stopped. Doubt he'll remember to not do it anymore. Usually I sign "YOU FAIL" instead of my name but I don't believe he's ever noticed....
