the judge issued a peace bond that bars this individual from entering any store in Nelson, and the main church that helps the homeless, and poor.
Er, courts are usually unlikely to impose undue hardships on a person, especially a non-violent offender. How's he supposed to, you know, buy groceries, clothing, etc.? Yeah, he was an ass, but being barred from every store? And for how long? These things usually have an expiry, especially the broader ones.

The term, as I understand it is a year. This guy has been known to be very violent at times. Othertimes he is just your standard douchewaffle. Cops get called about this guy almost on a daily basis. He is not mentally ill to the point of needing treatment. has no job, and is otherwise not a productive member of society.

When the Judge issued the Bond, he indicated that this is a drastic measure, however the safety of the citizens of this city supercede any "undue hardshhip" he may experience. We have an excellent transit system that will allow him to get what he needs, just not in this city. He also has family that can go to the stores, etc. All this was taken into consideration when issuing the bond.

This guy though represents the very worst of customerssuckery. He has been charged with just about everything, including a sexual assault charge against a clerk running a gas station. He has been barred for life at every bar in town. Many stores have also issued similar bans. Since our justice system is so lax in this country as far as prison/rehabilitation goes, the Judge felt that this would be an appropriate measure. The judge was rather disgusted with the fact that the guy only served 3 months for the rape.

Ah, that makes more sense then. I hope he learns his lesson in having to go so far out of his way, or having to rely on other people to get things for him. Douche.

Sounds more like he's ill enough to need treatment, but not ill enough to know he needs treatment. Or he's ill enough to be paranoid about getting treatment. I think that's the main cause of homelessness in my city -- people who are too ill to take care of themselves but who can also still say "I don't want to be stuck in the hospital".

As far as I am aware, the girl is fine. I imagine the usual PTSD, and whatnot, with a side of clinical depression, but otherwise healthy, happy, and announced that she is getting married this summer.

Also, clarification about mental health of the guy. I would assume that he has some form of mental illness, or what have you, and is most likely not wishing to seek treatment. However the courts typically review mental health of just about any accused person, and I am just relating details discussed in court, stating the guy had no diagnosed issue. If anything the guy is your run of the mill addict, which is, of course, a mental illness.

The city I live in is very beautiful, and some would say that just being here is a spiritual experience. This causes a lot of transient individuals to come in droves, and they typically don't leave. It is not uncommon for this sort of thing to happen at least twice a year. troublemakers that just don't want to do any good, and essentially have to be run out of town.
