Of course, just before the toll plazas were signs "New law - engine brake use prohibited". Looks like people moved into new houses near the tollway, then complained about the noise from the trucks.

I can see why. My grandmother's farm was along a twisty, two-laned highway. Multiple times per day, we'd get lots of trucks going past. I don't know about the rest of you, but the noise was annoying. They'd speed along the straightaways, and then use the jake brake to slow for the corners. Keep in mind that when my grandparents moved there, that road saw very little traffic. It wasn't until about '84 or so, that traffic started picking up--several coal mines were built or expanded towards the PA/WV border.

so.... what happened on the last night CRML?

The last night is tonight, but unfortunately I am unable to make it A few friends of mine are going, so I will try and get an update as soon as possible.

However, since the place announced it was closing, the outcry in town has been amazing, and there is going to be a meeting at the town hall about this matter next week, so the place may not be dead yet.

That is totally unfair. The pub was there first. They should have the right to do what they've always done. Not their fault some idiot decided to build apartments right next to it.

The first stables I went to learn horse riding from was closed down due to a complaint about noise and smell... by a resident of a new house that was built next to said stables so they knew damn well that there was a stable near by. Plus the smell was nowhere near as bad as they claimed, unless they had super sonic nostrils or something. I remember wishing, at the tender age of twelve, that I knew who'd made the complaint so I could rub their face in some horse dung.

There was a similar situation near my in laws place in Florida. There is a nudist colony thats been there since the 60's. Some genius thought a school (elementary grade) was a good idea to build on the next property over maybe 5 years ago. School was built and there was parental out cry.

Long story short, nudists won! They built a really tall fence, but got to stay where they were.

People are dumb. Maybe I should complain b/c i hear the hospitals helicopter when they have really sick patients to ship out. Maybe Ill ask them to move.

Is the council at least an elected body?

I'm on the same track. The council should have on record who voted to take the license away and who didn't. the same should go with the aproval to build the modern looking building.

Send a message, vote them out of office. Obviously they're not doing what they were elected to do (representing the town's majority) but are listing to some developer (who probably put some $$$) in their pockets) and then that developer's tenants.

Vote those fuggers out.

If they weren't elected - find who hired them and elect their @$$ out!
