So, I was waiting for my take-out when I heard this from the table behind me:

Sucky Guy (SG)
Sucky Girlfriend (SGF)

SG - "So Ethan got demoted last week."
SGF - "OMG!!! What happened?
SG - He was on guard duty in the tower saturday night when this Officer did an inspection, and he smelled alcohol on Ethan's breath so he got demoted, lost a pay grade and everything! It sucks!
SGF - "Yeah! Why'd the Officer have to be such a dick about it?!"
SG - "ALL the Officers are dicks! Anyone over the rank of MasterSgt is a dick, guaranteed! And it's not like anything was happening. The only reason they were drinking is because they were bored; nothing ever happens in the tower. If he hadn't been assigned guard duty nothing would have happened.
SGF - "That is SO not fair!"

Hmmm, so let's see. Ethan was caught drinking on guard duty on-base, gets busted, but the Officer was just being a dick. Riiiigggghhhttt. I don't really want to think about people like Ethan and his friends guarding any of our military installations!

Coworker Bob was a SP in the Air Force and spent 2 years on a base in Alaska with 7 other people. He had to do 12 hour shifts, staring at nothing. I think the guy would do just fine there.
